Braunwyn Windham-Burke, who was best known for being on the hit TV show ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’, has been celebrating a major milestone after going two years sober.

Braunwyn, for her part, has been through a lot in her life. And her substance abuse issues were at the top of the list of priorities when she infamously came out as an alcoholic in October 2020.
Given that she had the courage to express this to the whole world, knowing that she was in the public eye, there was a realistic danger that she could have become overwhelmed by all of this.
And yet, she managed to overcome any concerns by putting her addiction firmly behind her. During an interview with People magazine, Braunwyn admitted that the journey was hard.
She said: “My first year of sobriety was about not drinking — it was about taking it one day at a time, finding my people, and settling in.
“It was learning how to deal with what I never thought I could. The second year was where the real work began.” This is not a surprise given the amount of scrutiny she was going through with regards to her personal life.
She was heavily criticised on the basis that she had come out as a lesbian, but continued to be in an open marriage with Sean Burke. Not only that, but some of the housewives had questioned whether her sobriety issues were in fact real.
So much so that people even went on to suggest that it was all done to garner publicity. Therefore, had it not been for the support that Braunwyn had, there was a danger that she may not have overcome her troubles.
She added: “I am so grateful to have such an amazing support system, especially my children, Sean, and my mother, and all of the amazing people in the sober community who reach out every day.”
It is wonderful to see Branwyn in a much better place after everything she has been through. And let us hope that things continue to stay this way going forward in the future for the sake of everyone involved.
