Angela Kelly, who happened to be an employee of Queen Elizabeth’s, has opened up on a humorous side to the monarch that many people may not know about.
Former Royal Employee States That Queen Elizabeth Had Told Her She Was Fired After Playing A Practical Joke
The Queen is often judged in a very serious manner by virtue of the fact that she is the head of state. And yet, outside of the political matters as well as the cameras, she has a side to her that is very witty.
And this all came to the fore, when Angela Kelly admitted that she had played a practical joke on Queen Elizabeth. This had occurred when the monarch was undertaking a Royal tour of Australia in 2006.
And as part of that process, the Queen had apparently wanted to get a look at a kookaburra. However, after failing to track one down, Angela decided to do the next big thing.
She bought a stuffed toy animal of one and placed it in a cage, after which Angela went on to inform the Queen what she had seen. “The Queen looked outside and shouted ‘It’s a kookaburra!’
“I went to open the cage doors and she said loudly ‘No! Don’t do that! It will fly away,” Angela remarked. Rather than take things to heart, Queen Elizabeth decided to get her own back.
And she made sure that she let Angela know who was the wittiest out of the two at what was clearly an embarrassing moment for the Queen.
In response, Angela said: “I solemnly told her it was dead,” to which the Queen replied: “She had only two words for me: “You’re sacked.
“I was laughing uncontrollably as her Majesty turned to His Royal Highness and said “Do you know what she has just done to me? Angela has had me!”
And yet, it looks as though the stuffed toy still had some use, as it is claimed that it is now residing in the Queen’s private living room.
Luckily for Angela, Queen Elizabeth took it in good taste. As who knows, on any other given day, things might not have turned out in a positive way.
