Large numbers of truckers came together to protest in opposition to the requirement of having vaccine mandates. And things got so out of hand that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly had to go to a secret location on security grounds.
This got the attention of significant political figures including none other than former United States President Donald Trump, who declared his support openly for the protestors. And now Elon has decided to give his view on what has been going down.
In a post to his followers on Twitter, he remarked: “It would appear that the so-called ‘fringe minority’ is actually the government.
“If the government had the mandate of the people, there would be a significant counter-protest. There is not, therefore they do not. Protesting in a Canadian winter shows real commitment!”
There is no denying that the protests have garnered the attention of the globe, and yet, not everybody was convinced that Elon was being very serious.
After all, the last thing that they expected a billionaire to do was get behind people who were suffering at the hands of power. And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
A significant proportion of people questioned whether or not Elon’s comments were designed to create a false opposition to the Canadian government.
One person wrote: “I hope like hell U R not controlled opposition. I really do but I am suspending my judgment,” while another person stated: “Hey Elon, remember when you and Ghislaine were chilling together.”
There is ultimately no way of knowing what Elon’s intentions are, but given what his prior track record suggests, things do not look very good.
He has often been criticised for tweeting about Bitcoin, which has resulted in massive fluctuations in the price depending on what the billionaire has stated.
With that in mind, Elon Musk’s comments on the ‘Freedom Convoy’ could simply be interpreted as an attempt to stay relevant. So there you have it folks.
