Joe Rogan: Spotify Controversy “Political Hit Job”

Joe Rogan, fresh off the back of his recent apology video, has declared his ongoing controversy on Spotify a “political hit job”. Rogan has been under fire for, among other things, alleged dissemination of COVID-19 misinformation, use of racial slurs, and what the New York Post called “hateful” rhetoric.

Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, remains on Spotify, and he will once more man the commentary booth for this weekend’s UFC 271 event. He described the unfolding media campaign to remove him from Spotify as a “hit job”, even if it came as something of a “relief” to have things aired.

Joe Rogan: Spotify Controversy “Political Hit Job”

“In a lot of ways, all this is a relief. Because that video had always been out there. Like this is a political hit job so they’re taking all this stuff that I’ve ever said that’s wrong and smushed it all together but it’s good because it makes me address some sh*t that I really wish wasn’t out there.”

Rogan, in his stand-upcomedy, attempted to justify his previous use of the “N-Word”. He claimed that he used it “in context”, and the compilation video of his use of the slur over the years was out of context.  “I used to say it if [I was talking about] a Richard Pryor bit or something, I would say it in context.

Somebody made a compilation of every time I said that word over 14 years and they put it on YouTube, and it turned out that was racist as f*ck. Even to me!

I’m me and I’m watching it saying, ‘Stop saying it!’ I put my cursor over the video and I’m like, ‘Four more minutes?!’” Rogan also refused to apologize for apologizing despite former US President Donald Trump’s advice otherwise.

“You should apologize if you regret something. This idea that you should never apologize. Like if you regret something, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with apologizing.

But I do think you have to be very careful to not apologize for nonsense. Like you see Awkwafina? She sort of defended the way she talks and they were saying it was a ‘blaccent,’ which come on, man.”

Joe Rogan also took pains to echo a point made by many of his supporters. Namely, that he’s not an expert, and should not be treated as one.

“I talk sh*t for a living. That’s why this is so baffling to me. If you’re taking vaccine advice from me, is that really my fault? What dumb sh*t were you about to do when my stupid idea sounded better?

‘You know that dude who made people eat animal d*cks on TV? How does he feel about medicine?’

If you want my advice, don’t take my advice.” What do you think of the latest development in the Joe Rogan controversy? Let us know in the comments.
