Austin & Colten Gunn are one of the hardest working tag teams in AEW. Despite this, it’s taken a very long time to earn a title shot. It was only when Billy Gunn got in the face of Christian Cage and provoked Jurassic Express, that they finally get their chance to be recognized as AEW’s best.
Before the match, Jungle Boy said that the undefeated streak of Gunn Club is a joke – and tonight they’ll just be remembered for the massive ‘Ass Boys’ chant that this Atlantic City crowd will give them tonight.
However, a 6-0 record is impressive, but feels tiny compared to the 33-9 record of Jurassic Express. The experience edge as a team is clear, but will the familial bonds give the edge?
Gunn Club Show They’re No Joke
Jungle Boy would start with Austin Gunn, quickling taking him down to the mat. Austin was able to counter the arm-wringer, but was dropped with a frankensteiner – taking the impact on his face.
Colton Gunn would tag in, and try to take down JB – only to be decked with the Comebacker Lariat. Luchasarus would tag in, and just toss Austin Gunn into the turnbuckle with Snake Eyes – before hitting an overhand chop.
Jungle Boy would tag back in as Luchasarus was already calling for the finish, before the Gunn Club used a distraction to get a big lariat in. Austin would take control of the match, and feed him into the corner.
Gunn Club would have the size and power advantage over JB, and Colton showed some agility with a beautiful dropkick. JB would get an opening after a quick lariat, but Austin Gunn would take Luchasaurus off the apron at the last possible second before the tag was made.
Jungle Boy Uses The Killswitch To Get The Win
Solid tag team fundamentals will only get you so far however, as JB nailed a German Suplex before going through the legs of Colton. Luchasaurus got the tag and ran Gunn Club down with a double lariat, before JB dove onto them at ringside. Colton took a chokeslam and moonsault press, but was able to kick out at the two count.
Gunn Club would cause JB to dive onto Luchasaurus, before the Quickdraw landed on the floor. In the ring, Colton tried to use the ropes to get the steal. Christian made the save, but drew the referees attention while Colton slammed JB with the title belt – but that was not enough!
JB would take down Austin Gunn in the ring, as Luchasarus chokeslammed Colton into the crowd. Christian hit a spear on the floor to take down Billy Gunn on the floor – and JB would flip the Killswitch in the ring for the three count!
