The input of legends of the professional wrestling industry can be very important. This is doubly true when it comes to a still rather fresh company like AEW. Despite having been very successful in their few years of business, they still have room to grow in terms of their storytelling and matchmaking skills. However, they recently got a huge boon in Keith Lee joining their roster. This was something that even Booker T, who is often critical of AEW – couldn’t overlook.
Keith Lee Should Be Shot To The Top Of The AEW Roster?
The debut of Keith Lee was massive, with him showing up and tossing Isiah Kassidy halfway to the moon – before ending the match and qualifying for a ladder match at AEW Revolution. Turns out the trick to having fans excited about Keith Lee is just letting him be himself. It was his first match in months, but he showed zero signs to ring rust, and Booker T feels that Lee shouldn’t linger before going for the top prize in the company. He’d say the following on his ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast.
“Immediately, he goes to the top of the food chain as being one of those guys that could be a player from a AEW world title perspective. Put him in the mix with anybody and I think you got something there, as well as Keith Lee winning the AEW championship for the first time. Can you imagine how big that would be?”
Booker T Might Change His Tone On AEW Now That A.Q.A Is All Elite
One aspect of AEW that might see Booker T become a touch less critical is them signing one of his top students. Booker T has run the ‘Reality of Wrestling’ promotion out of Texas for years now, and A.Q.A was one of the top female prospects to come out of the company.
While it’s incredibly doubtful AEW signed A.Q.A to earn brownie points with Booker T, with her talent being the reason she got signed; her spot on the roster might change his tone to be slightly more positive about the promotion. This is provided she’s not held down like in WWE NXT. Booker T viewed her AEW debut as a test, and felt she “passed with flying colors”.
