Last night at a Defy Wrestling event, no one expected AEW star Darby Allin to show up. However, he would show up after the main event of their 5th Anniversary show. The main event saw Christopher Daniels defend the Interim DEFY World Title against 16 year old Nick Wayne, and after the match – Wayne would be offered an AEW contract.
Nick Wayne To Become The Youngest Active Wrestler On The AEW Roster
While not the youngest to be offered an AEW contract, as Brodie Lee Jr. has a contract that will kick in when he turns 18 years old – Nick Wayne could be on his way to being the youngest member of the roster. Him being offered a contract shouldn’t come as any type of surprise, as he’s been highly praised by Joey Janela – who has long been assumed to work as a talent scout for AEW.
Now, he goes toe to toe in a main event match against AEW’s Head of Talent Relations, Christopher Daniels, and gets offered a contract by one of their biggest stars. Nick Wayne has since accepted this contract offer, tweeting out that he is now All Elite.
The Latest Of Young Stars Breaking Into The Professional Wrestling Industry
At just sixteen years old, AEW will be unable to let Wayne wrestle in certain states, as places like New York don’t seem to allow it. However, someone this young being in a major company isn’t new ground. Rene Dupree signed with WWE at 18 years old and became a champion at just 19 years old, and Tyler Bate would do the same thing in 2016.
Nick Wayne will likely be in a more developmental role in AEW given his age, but he’s already shown skill beyond his years on the indies. With Bryan Danielson looking to form a faction of promising rookies, it’s entirely possible that he will look at Nick Wayne and see another potential recruit.
Anyone who has seen Nick Wayne wrestle knows just how good he is, so when this 16 year old hits AEW TV – everyone will likely be amazed. When do you think AEW will debut Nick Wayne? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
