Josh Alexander’s 2021 was one of the best runs we’ve seen in a while as he moved on from teaming with Ethan Page as The North and became a dominate singles wrestler.
After winning the X-Division Championship in a Triple Threat Revolver Match against Ace Austin and TJP, he went on to have some of the best matches of the year, including the Match of the Year in Impact Wrestling’s first 60 Minute Iron Man match against TJP.
It’s been a hard road for him, but Josh has fought through career threatening injuries to become not just the X-Division Champion but also the Impact World Champion.
The latter only lasted a few minutes until Moose cashed in his Call Your Shot opportunity and won the title.
He was then written off Impact’s TV show last weeks amid threats to head elsewhere if he didn’t get his shot at Moose.

More than a contract
It’s the type of thing often done when someone’s leaving a company or is taking time to get over an injury, and yesterday, Monday 14, Josh announced on Twitter that his Impact contract was over and so is his work visa.
“Today my contract expired & subsequently also US work visa.
Unfortunately as a consequence I will not be able to honour my commitments to both @TERMINUSpro & @AMLWrestling later this month.
I’m disappointed & I’m sorry.
Hopefully I’ll have everything in order soon.”
While it may take some time for him to get things squared away, it’s been reported by Dave Meltzer that Josh is open to returning to Impact. Given how good friends he is with Scott D’Amore and others there that’s not a surprise.
AEW may throw their hat in the ring for his services as Brandi Rhodes mentioned him when she told Ethan Page they only signed him to get Josh.

Time will tell
With Impact Wrestling growing over the last couple of years, they may be in a better position than many may expect to offer him a contract, but they’ve also been bringing in other talent so it’ll be interesting to see how it works out.
He’ll do what’s best for himself and his family, and whether he returns to Impact or goes to AEW, he’s going to have a great career and make an Impact.
We wish him the best at working things out and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes wherever he goes.
