On April 1st, Ring of Honor returns with Supercard of Honor 2022 – and on that night, they will honor their first ever Hall of Fame class. The Briscoes, Bryan Danielson & Samoa Joe have already been announced – but everyone already knew who the final name for this first class would be. There are only a few names big enough to be in the first class, but CM Punk is absolutely one of them.
CM Punk Is Perhaps The Biggest Name To Ever Come From The Ring of Honor Roster
While Samoa Joe & Bryan Danielson would leave ROH to become stars, neither man would go on to cut The Pipebomb in WWE, and change the industry. Using his indy roots as a base – CM Punk brought an outlaw edge to WWE when he promised to defeat John Cena and take the WWE Championship to places like ROH or NJPW.
Sadly what followed his title win would be a letdown, but The Pipebomb is a moment in wrestling history that will live forever, and still lends itself to making CM Punk a massive star over a decade later in AEW.
One Of The Most Dynamic Runs In Ring of Honor History
This isn’t even taking into account the actual run of CM Punk in ROH. His feud with Raven, battles over the ROH Pure Championship, the series of legendary matches with Samoa Joe – and his reign as ROH World Champion. Add in some tag team highlights with Colt Cabana, and CM Punk’s ROH run is one that is more than worth re-visiting.
Right now, we know that The Briscoes will wrestle for ROH on Supercard of Honor, as they’re the ROH World Tag Team Champions. However, CM Punk & Bryan Danielson are up in the air due to their AEW contract status, and Samoa Joe has only wrestled once in the past two years.
Who will end up in the second ROH Hall of Fame class? Will CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson wrestle at Supercard of Honor? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
