It’s finally time for CM Punk to get his hands on MJF. After months of back and forth on the microphone, Punk working his way through all other members of The Pinnacle – and a beatdown last week, we finally got the match tonight. Even better, MJF gets a chance to beat CM Punk in his hometown of Chicago. He’s walking into enemy territory, and despite a snowstorm in Chicago – this one will bring the heat.
MJF Chokes Out CM Punk In Chicago
MJF would get the expected negative reaction, while CM Punk got a hero’s welcome in Chicago. Punk took a cheap shot from MJF to start this match before being taken into the corner for some punches from Punk. MJF would get caught in the ropes and got punched some more, before MJF fled the ring into the crowd. Punk would catch him and crotch him on the stair rail before taking this back into the ring.
MJF was nailed with two scoop slams in the ring, before Punk would call for the big elbow drop. Rolling out of the way and into the corner, MJF would dodge a charging Punk who nailed the ringpost with his shoulder. On the outside, MJF would stomp on the arm – before applying a hammerlock in the ring. MJF would hit the Pepsi Twist in the ring, but only got a two count.
Punk would have his wrist bent in the ropes, before he’d hit the crossbody to drop MJF. The rising knee and bulldog landed, before Punk called for the Go To Sleep. MJF fled to the outside but was pulled back in. He’d block the elbow drop from the top rope, by going after the ropes and Punk got crotched. MJF took Punk down with an armdrag off the top, before Punk nailed the Pepsi Twist.
The Match Continues
MJF would use the referee as a shield before applying a sleeper hold on Punk – with some help from some wrist tape around the throat. Punk would get taken to the mat with the chokehold, and he’d get choked out for the victory! The referee found the tape after the bell was rung, and the match will continue.
Punk would come back with some big right hands, before sending MJF off the turnbuckles. Twenty downward punches in the corner was followed by a Manhattan Drop and a lariat. MJF kicked Punk out of the ring, and went back to work on that wrist before looking for the Heatseeker.
Punk blocked and hit a springboard lariat, before sending MJF outside for a dive to the floor. He’d hit the floor hard, and now has a hurt arm and leg, and MJF took advantage with the Tequila Sunrise. Punk got free, but couldn’t lift him for the GTS.
Wardlow Gives The Assist To MJF
MJF got a two count off an inside cradle, before punching Punk in the gut. They’d trade blows before Punk spiked himself on a reverse hurricanrana. MJF would chop block the leg of Punk, before nailing a pumphandle driver for a two count.
Punk would take a low blow and MJF would get his feet on the ropes – but was still able to kick out. MJF would keep the slow offence coming, failing to get the Figure Four Leg Lock around the turnbuckle. Another Figure Four attempt in the ring saw Punk counter before hitting a leg lariat.
CM Punk would be bit in the corner by MJF, and Punk bit back before hitting the Pepsi Plunge for the first time in about 17 years. MJF would roll away from the pinfall attempt and to the floor. A tombstone piledriver was blocked both ways, before MJF got a roll up. Punk rocked MJF with a kick to the head, before the big elbow drop landed for a two count.
Wardlow would come to ringside, and was a bit conflicted on what to do. He’d step up to CM Punk, but didn’t do anything but buy MJF some time. Punk would be distracted, and MJF used the Dynamite Diamond Ring for a big punch to the face for the win.
