Since making it’s return to live audiences again, it’s been hard to stop the progress of Progress Wrestling. They’re on their way to being one of the best independent wrestling companies in the world again, despite their links to industry juggernaut WWE. A lot of this falls on their unstoppable champion, Cara Noir – who will have a chance to claim another belt very soon.
Jonathan Gresham To Take On Cara Noir In A Champion vs. Champion Match In Progress Wrestling
Following his title defense at PROGRESS Chapter 129: I Choo-Choo-Choose You, where Cara Noir defeated Shane Strickland – he’d be confronted by another man who defended his championship at the event. This is ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, who defeated Dean Allmark. They’d both raise their titles high, and the champion vs. champion match has been confirmed for PROGRESS Chapter 130: Dodge, Dip, Duck, Dive, Dodge.
What makes this very interesting is that this event comes just about a week before ROH Supercard of Honor, where Jonathan Gresham is set to face the other ROH World Champion, Bandido. Bandido was never stripped of his championship when he missed Final Battle 2021, and Supercard of Honor will name an undisputed ROH World Champion. Cara Noir could very well be in the main event of an ROH PPV, if he wins at Chapter 130.
Is Cara Noir Moving To NXT UK?
Another interesting prospect comes with Cara Noir having a match coming up against the NXT UK Champion, Ilja Dragonov. It will be their fourth singles match, following a series of matches that really put Noir on the map. With Dragunov being the champion of NXT UK, and Noir potentially soon losing his championship to Jonathan Gresham – this matchup could indicate a move to the NXT UK brand.
WWE are aware of how great Noir is, as Progress has been frequently uploaded to the WWE Network/Peacock streaming services. His unique presentation might be altered within WWE, but his skills could take him all the way to Wrestlemania if management can get behind him.
