We’re in for a wild ride as we start to speed up on the Road to Wrestlemania. With both main events set – as Roman Reigns takes on Brock Lesnar, and Charlotte Flair takes on Ronda Rousey – the rest of the card is now taking shape. There are rumours of returns of Stone Cold, Cody Rhodes and more. Johnny Knoxville is also expected to wrestle for the WWE Intercontinental Championship – but even that isn’t the craziest story leading into Wrestlemania. That has to go to the potential in-ring return of Vince McMahon.
Vince McMahon Is Actually Scheduled To Wrestle Pat McAfee
Right now, Vince McMahon is expected to wrestle Smackdown Live commentator and NFL legend – Pat McAfee. This angle is to be started when Vince McMahon shows up on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday. McMahon has not done an interview like this since he showed up on Stone Cold’s ‘Broken Skull Sessions’.
We’d get some information from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer – who confirmed that right now, McAfee vs. McMahon is on the internal schedule for Wrestlemania. He’d say the following on Twitter.
“As of last night, Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee was listed as a match on the internal schedule for WrestleMania.”
A Slim Chance For Austin Theory To Instead Get A Big Match
At 76 years old, if Vince McMahon wrestles at Wrestlemania – he will be the oldest to ever wrestle at Wrestlemania. There is some fan hope that WWE shifts this to be Austin Theory vs. Pat McAfee – especially after Theory’s chance at getting to Wrestlemania was shut down with the firing of Shane McMahon.
Theory has been getting a lot of screen time alongside Vince McMahon as of late – and would make sense as even a last minute replacement for McMahon. There is a fun story to be told here, but even if Vince hits the ring – it will still likely be less of a match, and more of an extended angle.
