If anything can be said about WWE booking the last few years is it’s extremely predictable with a couple of cool and unexpected twists.
We mentioned before how the WWE is reportedly wanting to show and prove Roman Reigns is the greatest ever, and to do so is to have him break the longest title reign records in history.
This means he’ll have to hold the Universal Championship for a while yet, including for the reported match against the Rock at next year’s WrestleMania.
To do that, the titles will have to be unified to tie the Universal title to the lineage of the WWE Championship, hence why it appears the title for title match coming our way at this year’s WrestleMania.
Unification under way
While a championship unification isn’t guaranteed, it’s been reported that the WWE wasn’t open to the idea initially, but it’s now on the table according to Dave Meltzer.
Meltzer also stated that Lesnar and Paul Heyman have also been pushing for this match, so it seems more likely we’re going to see a title for title happen.
To heighten Reigns and Lesnar’s feud, Reigns had to interfered I at the Royal Rumble to help Bobby Lashley win the WWE Championship from Lesnar, and Lesnar then went on to win the Royal Rumble as we pointed out previously.
Lesnar wasted no time in naming Reigns as his opponent at WrestleMania while also challenging Lashley for the WWE title at Elimination Chamber to make the title vs. title a possibility.
And it’s for that reason we think Lesnar will win at Elimination Chamber and be all set to meet Reigns at WrestleMania for yet another match.
The fact that it makes sense to build Reigns and Lesnar as strong as possible going into their match means there’s no legitimate way for Lesnar to lose in the Elimination Chamber.
But the WWE is great at finding “workable” gimmicks that make fans groan, so never say never.
Different paths
There are so many possibilities given the talent involved in the Elimination Chamber match that it seems almost impossible for Lashley to come out the victor, and if it works out to where most or all are there together, the group could gang up on Lashley or Lesnar.
There are a couple of things that could change the title vs. title scenario, but that would make the build up so far so it’s unlikely.
Though depending on how things work out, we could see a draw between Lashley and Lesnar where they simultaneously pin each other and become co-champions and face Reigns in a triple threat winner takes all.
This is the WWE, so we expect anything to happen.
