Tonight, fans get a match that likely could have been part of the card for AEW Revolution. After a title defence against Darby Allin was tainted by the interference of Andrade El Idolo, Sammy Guevara suddenly has something to prove.
Having since defeated Andrade as well, Guevara tonight will step into the ring with both recent challengers, and prove once and for all that he’s truly the undisputed TNT Champion. Everyone is barred from ringside on this night, meaning no Matt Hardy, Sting, or Chris Jericho getting involved in this match.
Three Of The Best In AEW Look To Be The Face Of TNT
Allin & Guevara were set to join forces against Andrade to start this match, but Andrade was playing defence. He’d be caught with an armdrag and sent into the corner, where Guevara hit an enzuguri to set up a Code Red from Allin. Guevara broke the pinfall up, and their alliance imploded as Allin got a side headlock on Guevara.
Allin lost control of the hold, and Guevara would hit the corkscrew dropkick. A superplex was set up in the corner, but Allin fought Guevara off before nailing a rising knee strike. Andrade picked his spot to enter the ring – hitting a powerbomb on Guevara who got a suplex on Allin.
The fans were already loving this match, and Andrade tossing Allin onto the top rope before beating him with his belt just had them even more fired up. Guevara took a lash from the belt as well, and a three way match means very little chance of a DQ finish. Allin was tossed onto the turnbuckle before being taken to the side.
Andrade would go after Guevara on the outside, dropping him on the barricade. In control of both opponents, Andrade was drawing the ire of the crowd – but soaking in the boos all the same. Three amigos was set up by Andrade, with the third suplex going into the corner – dropping Guevara on his head.
Sammy Guevara Remains TNT Champion
Andrade followed this up with a massive backbreaker on Allin. He’d go up top for a moonsault, and missed Allin only to nail Guevara for a two count with a standing moonsault press, before the pin was broken up. Andrade would start to throw some overhand chops to Allin, before Guevara and Allin worked together. Coffin Splash was caught, but Guevara was able to hit the superkick.
Allin threw Guevara out of the ring, before running into a double knee strike from Andrade. Moonsault press was set, but Allin would shove the legs of Andrade out. Guevara hit a Coast to Coast dropkick as Andrade hung, and nailed Andrade right in the mouth.
Andrade went to the outside, but Allin hit the dive to the outside before Guevara. They’d meet in the middle of the ring with Andrade down, and traded pinfall attempts. Andrade found way back into the ring, and nailed a School Boy Driver on Guevara for a two count.
Guevara was able to come back with the GTH, but Allin sent him out of the ring. Coffin Drop landed, but Guevara broke up the pinfall with a flipping senton – claiming the victory in the process! Tensions would flare between Guevara & Allin, who team up on Sunday alongside Sting to face Andrade El Idolo, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy.
