During Best of the Super Juniors 2021, SHO made an enemy of Hiromu Takahashi. Not only did he make liberal use of aid from HOUSE OF TORTURE to defeat Takahashi – he also tried to ruin the finals between Takahashi & YOH. Tonight, Takahashi has a chance to get his revenge, and push forward to the second round of the New Japan Cup in the process.

SHO & Hiromu Takahashi Waste No Time Tearing Into Each Other

Before Hiromu could even make his entrance, SHO would have attacked him backstage. Using a steel chair – SHO would gain a massive advantage using his over reliance on heel tactics. Hiromu was sent into the ring and caught SHO off the apron with the Sunset Bomb.

No one is better than Hiromu at turning things right up to 11, and would hit the Death Valley Driver into the corner. SHO was taken outside and thrown hard into the barricades – before pulling on the protective padding on the floor. Vertical Suplex was blocked as SHO used the ring bell hammer, before hitting a piledriver on the exposed floor.

SHO would expose one of the corners of the ring, before whipping Hiromu into it. The previously broken neck would be the target of SHO, who would hammer down with elbow strikes. Hiromu would fight back with a Falcon Arrow – getting a two count in the process. SHO would hit the spear, before the powerbomb set up Snake Bite.

    Hiromu Takahashi Overcomes The Odds

Hiromu would fight off this submission, and got the hold loosened up enough to get the ropes. SHO grabbed his trusty wrench, but Hiromu instead was able to hit a German Suplex. Thrust kick would land before a rushing lariat, before Victory Royal got the two count. Referee was dropped by SHO who once again grabbed that wrench, but was taken out with a kick.

Hiromu jammed SHO into the exposed corner with a Death Valley Driver. Yujiro Takahashi would run the assist with his cane, before heading to the back. SHO would follow up with the Cross Arm Piledriver – but Hiromu somehow kicked out. Shock Arrow was set, and Hiromu was able to block into a scrappy Inside Cradle for the three count!

This puts Hiromu Takahashi into the second round, where he will meet Minoru Suzuki. Back in 2020’s New Japan Cup – Hiromu Takahashi was able to be successful against heavyweights, only losing to Kazuchika Okada. Suzuki will not be an easy opponent to defeat – but he’d be a fool to overlook Hiromu Takahashi.

Will Takahashi once again have a deep run in the New Japan Cup? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
