British actress and producer, Joanna Lumley has disclosed the reason she does not watch ‘The Crown,’ a Netflix original drama about Queen Elizabeth. The veteran actress said in a recent newspaper interview that she doesn’t watch the popular show out of loyalty to the royal family, as she has many close friends within the family.

The 75-year old retired model also revealed that she only saw the first seasons of the show to learn about the earlier years of Queen Elizabeth II and quit watching the show when it started to expose some happenings that later occurred in the Queen’s reign.
Joanna Lumley Discloses Why She Doesn’t Watch The Crown
She said “Suddenly, it began to get closer and closer and they had people acting as Prince Charles, as Camilla Parker Bowles, as Princess Anne. I know them all.” “I know that’s not how they speak or what they said or did. People say, ‘Oh, well everybody knows that it’s made up.’
People don’t, people think it’s the truth.” “So I decided not to watch it anymore because I have some loyalty, as one would to anybody they know and like and are lucky enough to be friendly with. It’s rather ghastly,” She added.
The veteran actress further disclosed that the royals that she has come across have been nice and welcoming and she strongly believes that the UK is blessed to have Queen Elizabeth as its monarch. The royal family will be happy to receive rare public backing from a famous figure in the United Kingdom.
Although the royal family has sailed through several controversies in the past, Prince Andrew’s sexual assault lawsuit and Harry’s resignation have damaged the image of the royal family such that it will take a mighty effort to reclaim their undivided public respect.
For now, the royal family is reportedly putting things in place ahead of the platinum anniversary celebrations of the Queen with a potential family reunion with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already creating a lot of suspense ahead of the event.
