Tiger Mask & Tomoaki Honma are once again in the opening spot of a NJPW show, and will meet Ryohei Oiwa & Ryusuke Taguchi. Oiwa is showing potential as a Young Lion, and Honma & Tiger Mask will push him to get just a bit further – and possibly even claim a very big win in his young career.
Ryohei Oiwa Shows His Potential Once Again
Ryohei Oiwa would make the first mistake in this match, running right into a kick to the gut from Tiger Mask. Honma would take some strikes from Oiwa before dropping him with a back elbow, and locking the cravat in. Oiwa was snapped down to the mat and nailed with some heavy handed chops.
Tiger Mask would apply the Camel Clutch, and Taguchi would get a bit desperate for a tag. Oiwa broke free, and Taguchi would lay in the hip attacks shortly after getting the tag. Taguchi would manage a suplex before applying the Ankle Lock – but Tiger Mask got to the ropes to break the hold.
Flying Hip Attack was blocked and Tiger Driver would spike Taguchi in the middle of the ring. Oiwa would get the tag after a missed Kokeshi from Honma, before hitting a tight Gutwrench Suplex. Taguchi would help to beat Honma down with a double dropkick, before the Single Leg Boston Crab was applied.
Tiger Mask got away from Taguchi on the floor and broke the hold, and a bodyslam would get Oiwa a two count. Honma would slam Oiwa down and show him a thing or two about how to apply the Boston Crab – and force the Young Lion to tap out.
El Phantasmo Pays Tribute To Scott Hall
BULLET CLUB’s Cutest Tag Team is back on the same page, and tonight have one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions as they take on Master Wato & Kosei Fujita. It will be a hard fight for Fujita & Wato – but not a hopeless one.
ELP would pay tribute to Scott Hall with his LED jacket, which had the nWo logo, “Hey Yo”, a razor blade and “RIP Bad Guy” loaded up. Without Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & Hulk Hogan starting the nWo – there would be no BULLET CLUB. They wrote the book that BULLET CLUB follows to this day, and that’s just a shred of the impact Scott Hall left on this industry.
Wato & Fujita would kick this one into high gear right out of the gate, focusing on Ishimori. A Boston Crab attempt would see Ishimori kick his way free, before Fujita was sent to the outside and brutalised on the floor. ELP & Ishimori would get some deadly back rakes in the ring, before a vertical suplex for a two count.
Fujita was hung in the tree of woe before getting the double groin press. ELP would get the crowd going with a Fujita chant, and Ishimori would get run down because of it… only for ELP to drag Wato off the apron before the tag. Wato would get in to break up the pinfall, before Ishimori sent him to the floor.
Handspring kick would drop Fujita before a lionsault from ELP. UFO would land, and Fujita was down for the three count. After the bell, Wato was beaten down – and Taguchi would make the save – and potentially handing a title shot to ELP & Ishimori in the process.
Guerrillas Of Destiny & Jado Continue To Look For Revenge On BULLET CLUB
When Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Jado were kicked from BULLET CLUB – the hardest moment to watch was Gedo turning on Jado. Since 1989, they were allies – but Gedo threw it all away with a single brass knuckle punch to the face of Jado. Tonight, with Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale in his corner, he faces Jado, Tama & Tanga – and this one could get emotional.
As Gedo, Owens & Fale made their way to the ring – Jado & Guerrillas Of Destiny would hit from behind. Tama would choke Gedo on the outside, while Jado ran Owens into the ringpost. Into the ring, Fale & Owens would take the fight to Jado – but he’d stand tall until a clubbing blow from Fale.
Gedo would meet his old friend in the ring, with some closed fists to the skull. Loa got the hot tag, and even The Grenade couldn’t be hit. Fale would hit the body block to drop Loa, and Jado would get an opening to get some damage on Gedo. Owens got the tag but would nearly be caught with the Green Killer.
Gedo tried to use the brass knuckles only to be chased by Tama Tonga, while in the ring Owens hit a low blow and C-Trigger for the victory before fleeing the scene. Owens claimed this was one more for the bad guys before they all hit the Too Sweet.
