FTR are hitting a part of their career where something needs to change. When they entered AEW, they went on a warpath to the AEW World Tag Team Championships, but have since lost them. Having now fired their manager Tully Blanchard, they’re looking to find that early hunger that brought them gold – and tonight have Austin & Colton Gunn to deal with in a tag team contest.
Wardlow Tries To Invade AEW – FTR Defeats Gunn Club
Before the match, MJF would hit commentary – supporting his Pinnacle allies of FTR. FTR didn’t seem too keen on being with MJF, but still agreed to stick around at this point. Harwood would start with Austin, and was taken down to the mat. Austin would get cocky, and Harwood tagged out to Wheeler.
He’d take down Austin with a set of big arm drags. Colton would grab the boot of Wheeler, and while Austin distracted the referee – Billy Gunn uncorked a haymaker like his name was Bart Gunn. Wheeler would try to get a tag, but was stopped by The Gunn Club.
Austin & Colton would have to press that advantage, but weren’t able to keep a tag team legend in the making like Wheeler isolated. Harwood got the tag, and would show why he’s known as Dax The Axe, with heavy strikes all around. Colton was dropped with a leg lariat before Austin barely hung on after a lariat nearly sent his head to the ninth row.
Harwood would look for a suplex, but Colton tripped him up. Wardlow would start to rush the arena, punching and powerbombing security. He was making a beeline to MJF, but was eventually isolated and sent away. Back in the ring, Gunn Club would nearly get rolled up, before falling to Big Rig. After the match, FTR would tell off MJF – saying his business is getting in the way of their business.
Jericho Appreciation Society Shows The
We’d catch up with The Jericho Appreciation Society backstage, and they’d be ambushed by a returning Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz. Even with the numbers edge, Jericho was quickly taken into the ring and was seeing lights after the Uraken landed.
Daniel Garcia would fall next, and 2.0 would follow. Santana & Ortiz would set up Chris Jericho into the ring for the Street Sweeper – but Jake Hager would finally make the save. He’d be able to take down the trio, and Garcia would lock in the sharpshooter as Jericho beat Kingston down with a bat.
What will Eddie Kingston do to get revenge after the second beatdown? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
