Last year at AEW Revolution, we saw the first ever ‘Face of the Revolution’ ladder match – and it’s back again. With a shot at the TNT Championship on the line, Keith Lee, Wardlow, Powerhouse Hobbs, Orange Cassidy, Ricky Starks and Christian Cage are all here to look for a title shot. It’s anyone’s game, but considering Christian Cage is a man who revolutionised what ladder matches mean – he could be considered a favourite.
Chaos Reigns Supreme In Ladder Match
OC would roll into the ring… and right back out – allowing the rest to start this match. Team Taz doubled up on Keith Lee, before Starks would be thrown out of the ring. Wardlow, Powerhouse & Lee would square off – before OC would come in and hit those dangerous low kicks – before climbing Lee to try and grab the ring hanging above the ring.
Christian would finally bring a ladder into the match, beating everyone down before Starks would send him out to the floor. OC stopped the climb and hit the Orange Punch before getting sent to the outside by Christian. Powerhouse Hobbs would nearly get the hanging ring – before being stopped by Christian.
Lee snuck up on Christian before taking him out. OC would be used as a battering ram by Lee, before Wardlow stopped Lee and challenged him to prove himself. They’d be focused on each other, while Hobbs used the ladder to take them out.
Starks & Hobbs had to decide how to handle coming to odds, before OC took them out. OC would channel his inner Terry Funk and put the ladder around his neck. Lee & Wardlow lifted it up, but OC flipped on top and nearly won the match in the process – but was stopped.
Wardlow Is The New Face Of The Revolution
Hobbs would crush Lee into the corner with a ladder, before taking OC down with a superplex. Christian would drive Hobbs into a ladder with a spear, before being taken out by Starks. Wardlow stopped the climb of Starks, before everyone started to climb two ladders in the middle of the ring – before everyone crashed and burned.
Lee would be met by OC in the ring, before chucking him out onto Starks & Christian. Wardlow took out Hobbs & Lee – but showed some inexperience as he instead followed them outside for a brawl. Hobbs & Wardlow would split a ladder before attacking Keith Lee.
Wardlow would send them both off the ramp and through some tables beneath – effectively making this a four man match. In the ring, Christian would set a ladder. Ricky Starks & Wardlow joined the fray, before Danhausen appeared and cursed Starks – and helping OC get time to recover.
Wardlow would hit a powerbomb on Christian, before stopping Starks from grabbing the ring… and powerbombing him into a ladder. Finally, Wardlow grabbed the ring hanging above, and is on his way to a match for the TNT Championship.
Swerve Strickland Is All Elite
While the wreckage of the ladder match, we’d have a contract signing to attend too! Last year, Christian Cage was signed, and tonight we have a man in the prime of his career. Shane ‘Swerve’ Strickland after months of rumors is now officially part of the AEW roster.
Best known perhaps for his time in WWE NXT, or his role in Lucha Underground as Killshot – Swerve is a massive get for AEW. Tony Khan has viewed him as a main event player for the company, and we could be seeing him go for gold very soon. The crowd was already behind him with a Swerve’s House chant, and that’s one helluva way to start your time in a new company.
What does the future hold for Swerve as he makes AEW his house? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
