Chris Jericho had something great with The Inner Circle, and even won the respect of Eddie Kingston. However, he flushed it all away in favour of a new reinvention – and looks to bring sports entertainment to the masses of AEW. This came at the cost of pissing off Kingston, Santana & Ortiz – who have now been on a warpath to defeat the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Tonight they will get their chance tonight as they meet Jericho, Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia in trios action. Earlier in the night, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker were beaten down in an airfield, with Parker having his shoes stolen by Kingston. Jericho Appreciation Society was warned that it was on sight, and this one will likely be more of a fight than a simple match.
Jericho Appreciation Society Prove Numbers Are Everything
Kingston, Santana & Ortiz had their warpaint on tonight – as Jim Ross compared Eddie Kingston to Junkyard Dog. Santana would start alongside Jericho, getting a punch to the face before some downward punches in the corner. Jericho got the boot up after being sent across the ring, before happily trading chops with Santana.
On the outside, Kingston would just decide to go after Garcia – while Ortiz went after Hager. Satana would continue punching away at Jericho, before tossing him into an STO from Kingston. Ortiz would grind his forearm into the face of Jericho. The tag would be made to Hager, who slammed Ortiz into the mat.
Garcia would come in and show his technical skills, before Jericho came in with a cocky cover. Ortiz would hang on, but Jericho would be busy yelling at referee Aubrey Edwards – and Ortiz was able to nearly make a tag. Instead, he’d soar across the ring with a crossbody, before trading punches with Jericho.
Ortiz would drop Jericho with a lariat, before looking for the tag. Garica would temporarily prevent this, before Kingston got the tag. He’d slam Garcia down before tagging in Santana for the three amigos and frog splash. Garcia would get lit up with the machine gun chops from Kingston – before Santana & Ortiz would set up a leg drop for a near fall.
Angelo Parker & Matt Menard would come to ringside, before being dropped by a dive. Garcia was left alone to face Kingston – who looked for the uraken. He’d avoid, and shove Kingston into a bat shot from Jericho – and got the roll up win. It was a five on three beatdown, and one by one the JAS took their foes down.
Marina Shafir Wins Her TV Debut In Sudden Fashion
Marina Shafir has been honing her skills on AEW Dark, and is finally making her TV debut. With a match against TBS Champion Jade Cargill on the horizon – she needs to keep her winning ways alive. Tonight she takes on underdog fan favorite – Skye Blue in singles action. Jade Cargill better be watching closely, as if you don’t scout Shafir – you’d have a big problem.
Backstage, Cargill wasn’t watching the match – as Shafir quickly took Blue down. She’d take Blues best strikes before nailing a release pumphandle suplex. A triangle choke was applied, and Blue had to tap right out. This one was fast and simple, and Cargill doesn’t seem to be concerned about this coming storm.
Team Taz Get A Massive Win
Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland have had issues with Team Taz for weeks now, but tonight have a chance to settle things in the ring. They will team up to face the duo of Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks – and we will find out once and for all, who is better.
Swerve would start up with Hobbs, and was tossed across the ring with a fallaway slam. Keith Lee did not look impressed. Starks would walk across the ropes before hitting an axe handle to the shoulder – before a shoulder tackle. The hometown crowd was eating up everything that Starks did, but would still cheer for Keith Lee nailing Grizzly Magnum.
Swerve would look for a pinning combination, before Starks slipped to the outside. Lee would provide a base for Swerve to hit a moonsault to the floor, catching both Starks & Hobbs. Back into the ring, Starks would take Swerve down before a stomp to the chest. Hobbs got the tag and nailed some clubbing blows to the chest.
Swerve was able to hit a dropkick after being tossed into the air by Hobbs – and was able to make the tag. Lee got the tag, and would toss Starks right into Hobbs. A combination rolling elbow and spin kick would land – but Starks was able to kick out. Swerve looked for the rolling flatliner but was cut down with a spear, before a DDT style destroyer for a near fall.
Lee would get the tag – and Swerve tossed Starks from the top rope into a pounce. Taz came to ringside as Starks failed to get Lee up for the Roshambo. Hobbs was sent into the ringpost by Swerve, as Lee blocked a tornado DDT before taking a diving spear. Swerve hit a 450 Splash, landing on the back of Starks. Hobbs would get the tag, and Lee was tripped up by Taz – and the Last Will & Testament Spinebuster got the win for Team Taz!
