MJF wants to become AEW World Heavyweight Champion. Right now, the champion is Hangman Page – a man MJF knows he can beat. The only issue is that his infrequency of wrestling doesn’t lead to high spots in the rankings. So tonight, he seeks to kick off 2022 with some victories. He’ll just show what AEW fans and talent already knows, and that is that he is better than everyone, and they should know it.
MJF Starts 2022 With A Losing Record Thanks To CM Punk
‘Captain’ Shawn Dean would be his opponent tonight. Dean is a talented wrestler, but not on MJF’s level – likely by design. CM Punk would run to the ring before the match got started and MJF ran away. Dean just looked confused as to what Punk is doing, before being dropped with a Go To Sleep. He wins by DQ, starting MJF’s year off with a loss!
CM Punk said that this will happen every single time MJF hits the ring until he grows a pair and faces Punk in the ring like a man. Punk however might just be realizing that without MJF right now, he wouldn’t be relevant – and is padding out the rivalry.
MJF would bring the Roddy Piper in Portland comparison back up, as Punk took offense to that. Maybe Punk thinks he’s Piper instead, but Piper was able to main event Wrestlemania unlike Punk. MJF might even go ahead and main event wrestlemania himself in 2024. Punk however just wants to kick the ass of the coward who is running from him.
If MJF feels the grass is greener in WWE, he can go there and get released and come crawling back. But these people want this match – they will get CM Punk with Wardlow next week. If he can beat Wardlow, maybe then he can get to MJF in time.
Jericho Is Back On TBS!
For the first time since 1999, Chris Jericho would make his way to the ring on TBS. Lots has changed since then. He went from a middle of the pack WCW Cruiserweight to a multiple time world champion, and to be considered one of the best to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots.
Jericho got the usual heroes welcome, and hyped up the crowd to pop a TBS chant. April 7th, 1999 was his last time on this Network, where he lost to Booker T on WCW Thunder. He’s just glad to be back after 2point0 took him out with a chair shot, and would call them out.
Jeff Parker & Matt Lee hit the ring, without Daniel Garcia in tow. 2point0 gave Jericho a little taste of a steel chair last time they met, but Jericho was too distracted by the square head of Matt Lee. 2point0 claimed he couldn’t say that, but the crowd can. Kip Sabian was in the crowd with a literal box on his head, still injured but building up his ‘Forgotten Pillar’ gimmick.
Jericho would grab his bat and look to take out 2point0, but Garcia ran in. Three on one was too big of odds, but Kingston, Santana & Ortiz made the save. They meet 2point0 in a No DQ match on Friday Night Rampage.
Will 2point0 give Kingston a taste on Rampage? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
