It has been quite some time since fans got to see Jay White wrestle in Japan. The leader of the iconic BULLET CLUB faction has spent the last year in the United States, being a stalwart of NJPW Strong – while also making appearances for Impact Wrestling & All Elite Wrestling. His lack of presence in Japan has led many to speculate on his status with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but White has now put those rumors to bed.
Jay White Is Still Signed With New Japan Pro Wrestling
While speaking with Renee Paquette on her podcast, “The Sessions with Renee Paquette”, White was asked if he had signed a deal with Impact Wrestling. White had the following to say.
“I didn’t sign with them. I’m still with New Japan but luckily, I have a fair bit of freedom where I can kind of go and do what I want so to speak.”
Despite this, he had nothing bad to say about Impact Wrestling. During his time there, he’s been able to add Chris Bey to the faction – as well as booting Tama Tonga out. White would have the following to say about his experience in Impact Wrestling.
“It’s been fun and fresh. Fresh is always good. Bullet Club has been around for a while now, so keeping things fresh is always good. Shaking it up with members, dropping some and adding some more, just so it’s not always the same old thing. Adding the best members and pieces that are going to help us move forward, in my opinion, has been fun.”
Potentially Returning For The 2022 G1 Climax?
There is a hope that Jay White will make his return to Japan for the 2022 G1 Climax later this year. Fans have been eager to see his return to the promotion, and as the borders to Japan become more open – it will be easier for the likes of White to return to the promotion. Pro Wrestling NOAH has started to bring in more international talents, and the recent debut of Franceso Akira in NJPW was the first new face since the start of the pandemic.
Without names like Jay White returning to Japan, NJPW risks running the same field as the 2021 G1 Climax – which would be a let down to fans. Variation is needed to spice up the product once again, and Switchblade would bring just that.
