Tama Tonga was recently stabbed in the back by The Switchblade. During Impact Wrestlings ‘No Surrender’ PPV, we’d see a long awaited clash between two of the best tag teams in the history of BULLET CLUB. The Good Brothers, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows were able to defeat The Guerillas of Destiny in a hard fought match – but what set the internet ablaze was that Jay White would turn on one of the original members of the faction. Now, just ahead of his return to Japan – Tama Tonga would reveal just why he feels Jay White betrayed him.
Jay White Was Falling Off In NJPW – Needed To Find A Way To Shock Fans
Sitting down with one of the members of the NJPW broadcast team – Chris Charleton, Tama Tonga would have a chance to speak publicly about being booted from BULLET CLUB. When asked why Jay White would do this, Tama would reply with the following.
“That’s a good question. When came into the Club, we had brought him in. It was a time of turmoil between us and The Elite, and we saw him as someone young who we could mould into the top position. Back then, he was cocky. He was arrogant, and that fit right in with the idea of what BULLET CLUB stood for. But I think over time… I think he realised that he was falling off.
That he wasn’t at the level in the business that he was two, three years ago. I think he felt threatened by me, to be honest. He wasn’t here in the G1 last year, and a lot of us had to step up. I stepped up, took control and he saw that. He saw as well that I was upset with how he handled things last year, and he thought that he had to do something about it. So I’ll give him that much, he caught me by surprise. He got one up on me.”
Much of the reason for the decline of Jay White in NJPW comes down to him not being in Japan for the 2021 G1 Climax, Wrestle Kingdom 16 – or the on-going New Japan Cup. Instead, his focus has been on NJPW Strong, Impact Wrestling, and even All Elite Wrestling.
Tama Tonga Hopes His Old Allies Make The Right Choice
While he doesn’t know if he is still in BULLET CLUB ahead of his coming match with EVIL in the New Japan Cup – Tama Tonga in confident that answers will reveal themselves when the bell rings. During this same interview, Tama would reveal that he’s not been in touch with the likes of Bad Luck Fale, Jado or El Phantasmo – but he feels they will make the right choice.
Bad Luck Fale is an OG member of BULLET CLUB, starting out alongside Prince Devitt, Karl Anderson, and Tama Tonga. Jado has served as the mentor of both Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, and ELP has been drifting away from BULLET CLUB as a whole.
One way or another, Jay White has found a way to spice things up in NJPW. We’re on our way to a civil war over control of BULLET CLUB, which could be going three ways given the role of EVIL in off-shoot, House of Torture.
