Wardlow is still under contract by MJF – who gets to choose how and when he wrestles. Tonight, as a punishment for costing him a match against Shawn Dean – MJF has booked Wardlow in a one on one encounter with perhaps the most vicious man on the AEW roster – The Butcher. Undoubtedly Shawn Spears will be nearby with a steel chair in hand as well, really stacking the deck against Wardlow. Without his music, handcuffed and with a security detail – MJF was trying to humiliate him.
Wardlow Is Finally Back In The Ring
The cuffs came off as Wardlow hit the ring – and these two proper heavyweights would trade blows in the middle of the ring. Butcher was matching the intensity of Wardlow – and would drive him into the corner. Wardlow broke free and hit a trio of shoulder tackles – sending Butcher out to the floor.
A steel chair was grabbed from under the ring, but Butcher didn’t get to use it. Wardlow would look for a powerbomb on the floor, but was driven into the ring post and slammed onto the apron. Butcher would hit a powerbomb in the ring – getting a one count.
Wardlow would nail his first powerbomb with a second and third soon following. The fourth brought the victory, and The Butcher failed to take him down. He’d be escorted back out of the arena by security – who were terrified of this man.
Jungle Boy & Kyle O’Reilly Look To Qualify For The Owen Hart Memorial Cup
After clashing over the AEW World Tag Team Championships last week, Jungle Boy & Kyle O’Reilly meet once again – this time in singles action. At stake tonight is a spot in the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, an honor for any professional wrestler. Add in that O’Reilly can potentially get reDRagon another shot at gold by defeating Jungle Boy – and this former ROH World Champion will be in peak form here tonight.
These would start up with some tight technical wrestling in the ring. KOR would grab a cross armbreaker attempt, but JB would find the bottom rope. JB would drop KOR before being taken down with a set of butterfly suplexes before a double arm DDT for a two count. KOR would grab a bodylock in the middle of the ring, before isolating the arm and looking for a choke hold.
JB would slip free, but the hard strikes of KOR would keep him on the mat. Despite this being his first singles match in months, KOR was looking like a pro tonight. JB would finally find some footing on the mat – before managing a big uppercut and dumping KOR to the floor. A tope suicida would land – before a comebacker lariat off the barricade.
Kyle O’Reilly Moves To The Tournament
Back in the ring, KOR would hit a Dragon Screw Leg Whip inside the ropes, before JB would nail a DDT and move right into the guillotine choke. KOR would break free and kick JB into the ropes – only to take the comebacker lariat. Belly to Belly Suplex would follow, before KOR would be taken to the top rope.
JB would fight free before looking to apply the Snare Trap – but instead looking for the big forearm shot. KOR would dodge only to wind up in the Snare Trap – only to break free using the ropes. A superplex followed by brainbuster would follow – before KOR hit a knee drop off the top rope to advance into the tournament.
KOR will join Samoa Joe in the tournament, with six men to advance. JB would look for advice from Christian Cage, who helped him up the ramp. Who else will join this tournament? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
