Buckingham Palace Will Be Decorated With A Huge Centerpiece For Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration
The announcement of the sculpture came at the right time on Friday, April 22, which marks Earth Day. It is estimated that the Queen, who takes interest in a healthy environment just like her son, Prince Charles, has planted more than a thousand and five hundred trees across the world during her reign as Queen.
Royal tree planting has been a long-time duty for the Queen and the rest of the Windsor family, and usually the Queen commensurate her official visits with tree planting. The Queen’s Green Canopy project focuses on encouraging citizens of the United Kingdom and the world at large to plant sustainably.
The initiative’s recent aim since the beginning of the planting season in October is to “plant a tree for the jubilee” which a lot of citizens have done with more than a million trees planted in the last season.
Asides the unveiling of the huge centrepiece at the Queen’s jubilee celebrations, other events have been planned for the period, including a live pop concert with an audience of about 10,000 people. Sir Elton John is also expected to perform at a special concert at the Palace.
