After a very rocky start, we’ve finally seen NXT 2.0 start to reach their potential. Most older names are gone from the roster following a series of call ups and releases, and special episodes are remaining to be highlights of Tuesday evenings. We have the next big episode with Spring Breakin’ coming soon, but fans will see a nostalgia trip later this year with the return of In Your House.
In Your House Is Returning Once Again
Originally coming in 1995 as a smaller PPV compared to the likes of Summerslam, WrestleMania or Royal Rumble – the In Your House PPV format would last 27 events, going to St. Valentines Massacre in 1999. It remains very nostalgic for fans, so in 2020 WWE brought it back for an NXT Takeover while most fans were stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.
In 2021, In Your House was used as a Takeover event – with matches like Raquel Gonzalez vs. Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Championship, and Karrion Kross defending the NXT Championship against Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, and Johnny Gargano. There was only one more NXT Takeover event following this, that being NXT Takeover 36.
Now in 2022, we will see In Your House instead be used as a TV special, which is becoming the new default for big NXT shows – with Stand & Deliver being an exception in the 2.0 era. The latest special event will come on Tuesday, with Spring Breakin’.
Spring Breakin’ Has A Solid Card For NXT 2.0
As for the upcoming special, Spring Breakin’ is set to feature two big title matches. We will see NXT Champion Bron Breakker defend against Joe Gacy. Meanwhile, NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes will defend against both Carmelo Hayes & Solo Sikoa in a triple threat match.
Some main roster talent will be around, with Natalya teaming with Lash Legend to take on Nikkita Lyons & Cora Jade. The Creed Brothers will take on The Viking Raiders, and NXT UK star Nathan Frazer will make his debut against Grayson Waller. The final announced segment is a sit down between Tony D’Angelo & Santos Escobar.
