Buckingham Palace has disclosed that Queen Elizabeth will not join the palace’s annual garden parties. Although Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh host up to three garden parties each summer, the coronavirus has prevented them from being hosted for the previous two years.
The Queen Will Be Represented By Other Royals
Four parties will be held this summer and all royals, except the Monarch, are expected to attend all of them after a statement released by a Buckingham Palace official confirmed the monarch’s decision to skip the parties. The statement read, “Her Majesty the Queen will be represented by other members of the royal family at this year’s garden parties, with details on attendance to be confirmed in due course.”
Queen Elizabeth Has Decided Not To Attend The Annual Garden Parties At Buckingham Palace
The celebrations are scheduled to take place on the 11th, 18th and 25th day of May 2022 at Buckingham Palace. There will be another ceremony in the Palace of Holyroodhouse on June 25, 2022. According to a statement released a few days ago by a royal official, the Queen is planning to witness Parliament’s State Opening on May 10, 2022. However, a verification of her presence at the event will be issued nearer to or on the day of the event itself.
Throughout her rule, the Queen has failed to open Parliament only twice. And both instances were in 1959 and 1963, while she was expecting Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, respectively. The Lord Chancellor at that time had to deliver an address she had written herself.
In about a month’s time, the United Kingdom and the entire Commonwealth will mark the platinum jubilee of the longest-serving monarch. It has been previously reported that there will be lots of festivities to mark the record-extending anniversary, like the Epsom Derby and a stunning show on the motorways of the capital. People say that the Queen wants to be a part of the festivities, but it is not clear how many of the most important events she will be interested in.
