According to reports circulating in the British media, Queen Elizabeth will continue to resist all calls to strip Prince Andrew of more titles and honours. This comes as the monarch is currently under massive pressure to cancel Andrew’s Duke of York association. It is understood that the Queen will not attempt to push for any change in law by the parliament that would allow her to strip the Duke of his remaining major honour.
The Queen Is On The Side Of Her Favourite Son, Prince Andrew
Royal sources maintain that the monarch is not even considering the option of forcing Andrew to walk away as Duke of York. It is clear that the Queen is clearly on the side of her alleged favourite son and will not take any action that will ridicule him more.
The Queen Will Not Deprive Prince Andrew Of His Final Royal Title Despite Rising Criticism
Rachael Maskell, Labour MP for York Central, had earlier disclosed that there was a plan in place to consider the possible ways to pressurize Prince Andrew to resign as the Duke of York. It is believed that the plans took off in February after the Duke’s sexual lawsuit was settled out of court. Although, Prince Andrew has maintained that he is not guilty of the charges levied against him, the Duke has already lost several royal titles and patronages.
Among the many titles he has lost, the “Freedom of the City of York” honorary position, which he has held for 35 years, is thought to be the most significant. The position was taken from him after councillors elected for it to “erase his stain of an association with the city”.
Meanwhile, Prince Andrew may be in for more ridicule if the York city representatives have their way with their current plan. It is understood that the body has openly asked the Queen to strip the embattled Prince of his Duke title.
Nevertheless, it is understood that the monarch does not have any veto power that would allow her to do this. According to political analysts, any effort to strip Andrew of the title will have to come from parliament, with an order approved by the two houses in the British parliament.
Prince Andrew has not been charged with or convicted of any crime so therefore he’s entitled to be deemed innocent of any allegations of criminal activity. The Queen has decided to take that stand also & allow him to keep his title but not all the sponsorships of some organizations he was an officer or benefactor of. He can still work behind the scenes for those he feels strongly connected to just can’t attend public functions & awards etc. that they might plan & carry out.
