Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing increasing pressure to produce some decent content for Netflix.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Facing Increasing Pressure To Produce Some Netflix Content
That is according to Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. This revelation arrives on the back end of Netflix deciding to cancel Meghan’s cartoon series entitled ‘Pearl.’
The cartoon had attempted to look at the life of a 12-year old girl, who had been influenced and inspired by the most significant historical-female figures.
But after claims that Netflix was facing budget cuts, as a result of an increasing number of people leaving the platform by way of subscription, the network decided to drop the project.
With that being said, there is also the possibility that Netflix could drop the couple’s future projects. After all, the statistics demonstrate that the company lost $50 billion from its value, while shares decreased by 35 percent.
Not only that, but an alleged 25 percent of people have been let go from the marketing department. With that being said, the couple have to produce content as soon as possible.
In an interview with the Express, Richard said: “Clearly there will be pressure on Harry and Meghan to produce more and probably more quickly.”
Nevertheless, this is going to be much more difficult for the following reasons. First of all, there is a perception that the couple could now be working against time.
And given that the competition for shows is tougher than ever due to the increasing number of streaming platforms, the couple cannot afford to make any mistakes.
Secondly, even if they were to release something else, there is the obvious question of what would they focus on. And after having left the Royal family, the pair have found it difficult to disassociate themselves with their own unique brand.
Richard’s following comments confirmed as much: “The problem is what. It is unlikely to be linked to royal matters but it is urgent with so drastic a fall in Netflix’s fortunes.”
