AEW has been facing more and more criticism for their content or lack thereof from wrestling fans and critics for various reasons, and their recent House of Black segment with the Varsity Blondes has takena  few lumps.

On the May 4th episode of AEW Dynamite, Brian Pillman Jr. cut a promo with Griff Garrison and Julia Hart standing to the side.

Hart still had on her eye patch following Malakai Black spitting mist into her face a couple of months ago, and the skin around her eye was more discolored than recent memory.

The House of Black came out to convince Hart to join them and that’s where things went off the rails.

They handed her a chair, but instead of turning on the Varsity Blondes like everyone was expecting, she backed off. House of Black was about to go on the attack when Death Triangle came to help the Blondes.

    Jim Cornette rips them

Fans weren’t happy about this segment after being teased with a heel turn by Hart, and Jim Cornette discussed the segment on his weekly podcast.

Cornette isn’t know for mincing his words, and his straight shooting style has rubbed many the wrong way, but many may agree with his take on it.

“This was the worst segment I have ever seen on wrestling television because there was no redeeming value to this. This material was so horrible that nobody cared. Anybody who came up with this story should be sent away to prison. There’s no punishment too heinous. Nobody should have been forced to watch this. You send the kid (Brian Pillman Jr.) to tell this story, which is hokey b–s—-. He tried so hard that he ended up screaming and squeaking, trying to put his soul into it for the rotten creative.”

Cornette didn’t hold back his criticism about House of Black in general as he’s been vocal about his feelings toward them and AEW in general.

“Maybe this is why they’re constantly in the dark, because they know that it sucks and they don’t want people to get a good close look at it so that’s why they’re always in the dark. Let’s cover that s— up, don’t… Here you’re trying to sell this sub-standard product, control the lighting, subdued lighting.”

This was one of Cornette’s least subdued rantings about AEW, and it really struck home with a lot of fans.

As usual, he’s stirred up a hornet’ nest but it seems more subdued this time due to the fan backlash.

What do you think about his take on the segment? Is he wrong, spot on, and being too harsh? Let us know in the comments below.
