When Britt Baker qualified for the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, everyone knew the former AEW Women’s World Champion would make the finals. She qualified by defeating Danielle Kamela, before running through Maki Itoh & Toni Storm. Ruby Soho meanwhile had people throwing serious doubts against her.

People have focused on her flaws since joining AEW, but she took down Robyn Renegade to qualify, defeated a former AEW Women’s World Champion in Riho in the first round, and Kris Statlander to make the finals. Now, in a rematch from the main event of AEW Grand Slam – Soho has a chance to once again try and prove she’s the real deal here in AEW.

Britt Baker Gets Upstaged With Entrance, Gets The Better Of Soho In The Ring

Ruby Soho would have Rancid play her theme song, Ruby Soho live – one of the best live musical performances many have seen on a show. Meanwhile, Britt Baker just had Rich Ward of Fozzy. Not often Britt Baker gets utterly upstaged like that.

Baker would look to upstage Soho in the ring, going for an armlock. Soho would be put on the defensive, before a springboard armdrag. Baker would take a knee strike to the face, before slipping outside – with Soho following to hit the suplex.

Soho was taken down ribs first on the top rope, before being yanked down to the ring. Baker would stomp Soho out, before bending her around the ring post. Soho would block the submission attempt in the ring with a pinfall, before hitting a superplex. Baker would talk some trash as they exchanged blows on the mat.

Soho would take a neckbreaker, but avoided the stomp. A series of superkicks would follow, but Soho would nail a stiff Backdrop Driver. She’d head up top and hit the Bombs Away, getting a near fall. Baker would be able to hit the stomp, before looking for Lockjaw.

Soho would counter into a pinfall, before hitting No Future. Sharpshooter would be applied, and Baker would lunge for the ropes. Soho would go for a victory roll, but Baker countered for the victory.

Dr. Martha Hart Hands Off The Rewards

Following this match, Dr. Martha Hart would be out to give the trophy belts out. She’d recall her late husband, who was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Once again, her family can celebrate Owen in the squared circle.

She would thank Tony Khan, Chris Jericho, the producers of Dark Side of the Ring, the AEW production, her sister, kids, and more. Most of all, she thanks the fans for making this event possible. The partnership is a match made in heaven, and would congratulate both Adam Cole & Britt Baker.

Next year, they will hold this tournament once again – confirming it will be annual for AEW. She’d hand off the belts, which are theirs to keep, and their names will be engraved into the cup itself.

Were Adam Cole & Britt Baker the right picks to win this tournament? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
