During the absolute chaos of AEW Double or Nothing 2022 – a major signing for AEW fell through the cracks. In a backstage segment, Andrade El Idolo would announce the Andrade Family Office was dead, and in it’s place – he will be teaming up with an old friend. Former 2x ROH World Champion RUSH would show up, and will be appearing for AEW going forward.
RUSH Confirms He’s On A Per Appearance Deal
While speaking with Lucha Libre Online, RUSH would explain that while he’s with AEW now, it’s not a full fledged contract yet. Right now, he’s on a ‘per appearance’ basis, as he’d be quoted saying.
“I am grateful to Tony Khan for giving me the opportunity. We are still under talks and negotiations. For now, there are just dates , not a full-time contract. I already did the first jump step, which is being in the PPV, and not just a segment, but they gave it the value that both Rush and Andrade have. They left that promo for the end. Nobody expected it, not even my own family.”
RUSH in AEW is a potentially big deal. He’s proven himself to be an incredible wrestler when motivated – but also someone who often doesn’t like to drop matches. When he was the big fish in ROH, very rarely would he lose a match, and when he did – he’d ensure he got the last laugh. Hopefully in a larger company like AEW this will not be an issue, as it could harm his chances of getting that full time contract.
As of the time of writing, RUSH has yet to make his in-ring debut for AEW. There is a chance he could be in the Casino Battle Royale later tonight, which would be a solid way to get him into the mix. AEW might also wait to debut him as part of a tag team with Andrade, ensuring he kicks off his AEW career with a win. They are both excpected to be part of Forbidden Door, possibly linking up with or facing Los Ingobernables de Japon.
