At AEW Double Or Nothing 2022, Thunder Rosa reminded everyone why she’s the AEW Women’s World Champion. She was able to defeat a highly motivated Serena Deeb, and now has to deal with The Problem, Marina Shafir. Shafir simply accepted the open challenge from Rosa to get this match tonight, and now is ready to pull off an upset victory and become AEW Women’s World Champion.
Wardlow Wants The TNT Championship, Three Way Ladder Match Booked For Next Week
Before this match, we’d catch up with Wardlow. Now All Elite after beating MJF at Double or Nothing, he’s the #2 ranked man in AEW right now. He chose to not be part of the Battle Royale earlier, as he’s got something else on his mind for this immediate future.
Wardlow would admit it’s true, as he respects CM Punk too much to claim the belt without beating him first. He wants Punk to heal up quick, as he’ll be waiting for him to come back. However, he has a title on his mind, a title that has had it’s reputation drug through the mud lately. A title he had stolen from him months ago, that being the TNT Championship.
Current champion Scorpio Sky would be stopped by Ethan Page & Dan Lambert, as Wardlow doesn’t want to beat an injured man. Wardlow will wait until Sky is 110% if that’s what it takes, as he will win the belt sooner than later anyways.
Mark Sterling would appear on the screen, and gave Wardlow two choices with the lawsuit with the security of AEW. Settle in court, or with a 19 vs. 1 elimination match next week on Dynamite! Next week on AEW Dynamite, we also get a three way Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Young Bucks vs. The Hardy Boys vs. Jurassic Express! Previously booked was Chris Jericho vs. Ortiz in a Hair vs. Hair match as well.
Thunder Rosa Becomes A Problem Solver
Shafir would start with some knee strikes to the midsection, before Rosa would get the double wrist lock. Rosa would be unable to match Shafir on the mat, so would try and stay on her feet with some strikes. Shafir took a punch to the head, before a rough snap suplex.
A leg sweep put Rosa on the mat for a neck crank, before Shafir applied the straight jacket clutch. Shafir would move right into the bulldog choke, before some more clubbing strikes. Rosa would respond with a kick, and two rushing lariats into the corner before the driving knee strike.
Shafir was set up on the ropes for a set of dropkicks, before the Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall. Death Valley Driver would follow, and a Sunset Flip for a near fall. Shafir would look for a slam, but the victory roll would get Rosa the victory. A rough match, but showed how Rosa can adapt on the fly.
Shafir would not take the loss with grace, instead hitting a kick to the back and the judo toss. A leg and arm bar would follow, with Toni Storm making the save. German Suplex and Fire Thunder Driver would follow. Storm grabbed that AEW Women’s World Championship, perhaps a sign of things to come.
Jon Moxley Takes On Kyle O’Reilly To Decide Who Moves To Forbidden Door
Jon Moxley was able to push to the #1 ranked spot in the men’s division with last week’s main event victory over Daniel Garcia. This put him in tonight’s main event, with just a win between him and a big match at Forbidden Door over the AEW Interim World Championship, a title which exists due to CM Punk recovering from a broken foot. Kyle O’Reilly would advance through the Casino Battle Royale earlier tonight, and we have our main event.
KOR shot for a single leg, with Moxley blocking into an attempt at the Bulldog Choke. KOR would slip free and grab the leg of Moxley, before tossing a kick. Moxley would grab the armbar on KOR, and would snap away at the fingers – something William Regal likely taught him. He’d go into the Short Arm Scissors, before stomping away on the head of KOR.
Moxley would welcome some heavy strikes from KOR, before responding with a heavy headbutt. A dropkick to o the knee would drop Moxley, before a Dragon Screw through the ropes. Moxley would get trapped in the ropes, allowing KOR to fly in with a knee drop, a double impact as the leg snapped on Moxleys way to the mat.
Jon Moxley Punches Ticket To Forbidden Door
Not keen on staying down, Moxley would follow up with some chops on the floor, before getting blasted by a running dropkick. Back in the ring, KOR would take his time on the top rope, and Moxley would hit the ropes to drop him. A back rake on the top rope was followed by a Butterfly Suplex off the top rope.
Moxley would take some leg kicks before a headbutt. Double big boots would land, forcing a double down. Moxley would look for the Crossface Chickenwing, with KOR breaking the hold by biting the rope, only to have the rope kicked. King Kong Lariat would follow, before some Crown Knee Strikes.
KOR would manage some strikes of his own, before being taken into the Hammer & Anvil Elbow Strikes. Moxley Cutter would land before the Gotch Style Piledriver. KOR would block into a triangle choke before moving into the double knee bar. Moxley would simply punch his way free, and hit a piledriver for a two count.
Backdrop Driver would be followed by dual lariats, before Moxley locked in the Bulldog Choke. KOR would nearly be out, before some knee smashes. Regal Knee & Paradigm Shift would follow, Moxley wins!
