At Supercard of Honor, Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale to claim the ROH Interium Women’s Championship. Deonnna Purrazzo wasn’t able to make the show, but now is ready to find out who is the undisputed ROH Women’s World Champion as she makes her AEW debut. It’s winner takes all, and whoever wins gets to help shape the future of Ring of Honor’s women’s division.
Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb Official For Double Or Nothing
Before this match, we’d hear from AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa. Everyone has a story to tell, and hers was one of ups and downs – and she fought hard to become the Undisputed Women’s World Champion. When Rosa made her debut in AEW, she just wanted to become the backbone of the division. She helped to carry the division to something strong, to make it something worthy of praise.
Rosa wants to wrestle the best of the best, and one wrestler has her eyes. That was the wrestler who inspired her to become the best Thunder Rosa she could be. This was none other than Serena Deeb. Deeb is #1 ranked in the division, and is due for a title shot very soon. She watched Rosa scrap and crawl her way to the top, and respects her – and feels they can make this the best division in the world.
However to make that happen, the best women’s wrestler in the entire world needs to be champion – and that’s not Rosa. She’s only champion, because Deeb wasn’t the one holding that belt. Everyone knows she’s on another level, in a class all on her own – and it’s time she has the gold to prove it. At Double or Nothing, Deeb gets the chance.
Mercedes Martinez Is Undisputed As Champion
This match had a sixty minute time limit, with AEW ready to stick with this match as long as it takes. Purrazzo refused the Code of Honor here, despite it being an ROH sanctioned match. Martinez was staring daggers at Purrazzo, before they locked up in the middle of the ring.
They’d trade control of the wrist, before Martinez forced Purrazzo into the corner. There wasn’t much urgency in this match, as Purrazzo hit some short arm lariats to get a one count. An armbar in the ropes would punish Martinez, before Purrazzo wrapped the arm around the steel ring post.
A spear from Martinez would get her an opening before some rushing boots in the corner – as Purrazzo looked for the Fujiwara armbar. Russian Leg Sweep into a moonsault would have to suffice – but only got a near fall. Purrazzo hit a lariat before being taken up for a Death Valley Driver. Martinez would hit a curb stomp in the ring, before looking for Dragon Sleeper. It was locked in, and Martinez is Undisputed ROH Women’s World Champion!
