We will not see the UFC back in Canada in the foreseeable future, or in any other country requiring vaccination certificates for entry, for that matter.
Most of the world countries are trying to bring back everything as it was in the good ‘old’ days. What was happening 3-4 years ago, now seems so distant and bizarrely odd. Full crowds, no requirements for entry in locals, pubs, malls, and public happenings. However, this is the near past that we are eagerly wanting to return to.
UFC Won’t Return To Countries Requesting Vaccines For Entry – Is Dana White Vaccinated?
Governments worldwide are already on it. Quarantine requirements are massively lower than before, testing is not so frequent – all so we can get back to normal.
The UFC looks forward to these no-restriction times, so they can re-in-introduce full crowds and bring back the full potential of the UFC experience. But, Dana decides that it is already time to do this. He is using a ‘hack’ and will host UFC shows in countries that already have low requirements for hosting big events and no entry requirements.
“Uh, I don’t know yet. We’ll see. It all depends on how the world gets back to normal,” White says. “Obviously Canada is a huge market for us. Canada is a big part of our history — love it up there.”
“It’s just going to depend on whether the world gets back to normal. I wanna go back to Canada this year, but let’s see.” – Dana adds.
However, we don’t see what’s the big hold up. Canada already is open to tourists and already hosts events with a large audience. The mask mandates are no more, and full capacity events are a go.
The hold-up is the vaccination requirements of the country. UFC’s president Dana White admits this publicly.
“I think that in Canada right now, we’d need a fully vaccinated card. Everybody on the card has to have a vaccine. Yeah, that’s the problem.” – Dana states.
And this brings up a question about the vaccination policy in the UFC. Does anybody there have full vaccination? Are all of the fighters without vaccines? I bet there are enough fighters that have full vaccination and Dana can assemble a quality event with those fighters. Maybe the vaccination of the UFC staff is the issue. Maybe the trend of not receiving a vaccine reigns in the promotion regardless of if you are a fighter or a member of the crew.
Dana White, as well as some other people with a connection to the UFC promotion, have some controversial statements regarding the pandemic since its start. Maybe even Dana White does not have a full vaccination card.
The reason for all this is most probably that the UFC doesn’t want to go through any additional documentation to pass a border. They want the easy way, where they will just show their passports and will be free to enter. And they are not out of countries to go to. Many countries do not ask for anything like this, but completely got out of the pandemic and forgot that it exists.
So, is the vaccination requirement the only thing stopping UFC from organizing an event in Canada? Interesting how some minor documentation requirements can change Dana’s mind so easily.
