After multiple years of hard work, things would finally pay off for the duo of Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith. They would claim the NXT UK Tag Team Championships, ending the reign of fan favorites Moustache Mountain. However, Smith & Carter would hit a major bump in the road – as Ashton Smith would go down with an injury.
New NXT UK Tag Team Champions Crowned
It is being reported that Ashton Smith has torn his ACL. This would result in the NXT UK Tag Team Championships becoming vacant for the first time in their history. The way to decide a new champion would be a Four Way Elimination Match, which would contain Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs, Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz, Mark Andrews & Wild Boar and Die Familie.
Fan reports from the tapings would indicate that this was a fantastic match, and the winners would be Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. The NXT 2.0 tag team has been gaining steam and skill as they wrestle more and more, and they could only improve with a title reign in NXT UK.
Some fans are not impressed with the choice to not put the belts on Die Familie, who have become one of the best acts on the brand. However, this is a situation where fans will need to let things play out. It’s also only the first night of tapings, and more news about the NXT UK Tag Team Championships could be coming in the following tapings.
