Meghan Markle has responded to the Texas school shooting massacre at Robb Elementary by putting her support behind a gun control movement led by mothers.
Meghan Markle Sends ‘Snacks, Donuts, Bagels, Coffee And Cookies’ To Gun Control Group ‘Moms Demand Action’-‘Love U Meg, U Always Show Ur Best’
The tragedy killed 19 children and two adults at the hands of the defendant Salvador Ramos.
And that once again brought the issue of gun control right to the fore, with the Senate recently having voted to pass a gun control bill that requires tougher background checks on guns for those under 21.
With that being said, Meghan sent a letter of support to the gun control group entitled ‘Moms Demand Action.’ The organisation was created by Shannon Watts in response to the Sandy Hook shootings that had killed a reported 26 people.
In her letter, Meghan said: “[Shannon is a] fearless leader [and I want to say] a huge thank you for the work you are doing to keep our kids, families, and communities safe.”
But it was not just a letter that Meghan sent. Shannon expanded on how the Duchess of Sussex had also accompanied that with a series of snacks. Some of these included doughnuts and bagels.
While that was not the highlight of Meghan’s support, they were appreciated nonetheless. In response to the snacks, Shannon said: “Lots of questions about the snacks! Donuts, bagels w/the works, coffee, cookies, etc.
“Delicious and appreciated.” The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people mocked the Duchess on the basis that the snacks were not relevant to the bigger issue at hand.
Meanwhile, others praised Meghan on the basis that she had gone out of her way and shown she was not doing this for publicity. After all, she had shown her support for the community by attending the Texas shooting memorial previously.
One person wrote: “Love u Meg u always show ur best,” while another person stated: “Thank you for your work! And sweet Meghan.”
