A Virginia teen with a plan to kill an Orlando police detective as well as an Orlando-area family was arrested on June 22, 2022, having made it to the city and was ready to carry his plan out. According to WESH 2 News, the 16-year-old gave authorities a heads-up.
Virginia Teen Arrested in Florida for Planned Murder Plot Against Orlando Detective and Family
In a message left at the Orlando Police Communication Center on June 18, the would-be murderer said:
“I’m going to come down and kill all of you. Be afraid. God has commanded me to kill. I will end your life. Could be within a week. Could be several years.”
The detective was working on a case that involved the teen in question. From what the police could reveal about the case, the teen was accused of sending inappropriate material to a girl staying in Orlando.
As for how the 16-year-old managed to get from Virginia to Orlando and what they had planned, he took his parents’ car down to the Sunshine State. The Florida Highway Patrol was notified and got into a chase with the teen which reached speeds of over 100 MPH.
He would be stopped after spinning out I-95 close to Jacksonville. In the suspect’s vehicle, police would find a pipe but also found that he had researched making a pipe bomb.
Authorities are pushing for attempted murder—and since it was planned out and even involved a warning to the police—could mean a life sentence. There will be more details if more charges are added as the suspect did also cross state lines in a bid to commit murder.
