Following a two-week investigation into fentanyl trafficking in Panama City, Florida, authorities have arrested three drug traffickers. On June 23, 2022, the Panama City PD announced that its Street Crime Unit was contacted with a lead on a location where drugs were being sold and set up for traffic stops.

The traffic stops were fruitful and gave them a threat to tackle: fentanyl was being sold out of West 21st Court residence. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is—according to the Drug Enforcement Administration–”50-100 times strong than morphine.”
According to the CDC, fentanyl was the leading cause of death of adults aged 18-45 in 2020 and 2021. It topped the list over car accidents, suicides, COVID-19, and heart disease. As a result, several cities nationwide have made strong pushes to get the drug off the streets.
The amount seized was sizable considering the roughly 35,000 people living in Panama City. “The trafficking amount of the fentanyl equals more than 43,000 lethal doses of the drug,” according to authorities. A search warrant turned up 43.6 grams of the deadly drug, cocaine, a loaded gun, and digital scales.
Three men were taken into custody with Walter Jim Robinson Jr (32) being hit with trafficking in fentanyl, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, altering the identification on a weapon, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession and/or use of narcotic equipment. The man got all of the charges.
Michael Colby Andrews (61) was only charged with possession and/or use of narcotic equipment while Brandon Lamar Ware (32) got the same charge in addition to possession of fentanyl.
