Bron Breakker has a lot to think about coming into his title defence here tonight at The Great American Bash. Cameron Grimes potentially caused a shoulder injury during their face to face confrontation, when Breakker was driven into the turnbuckles so hard that they broke loose.
Grimes also put a doubt into the mind of Breakker, that he is only in the spot he’s in due to having a legendary father in the industry. However, Grimes calling out the lack of heart from Breakker might have been the mistake. Breakker has shown heart in every single match he’s had in NXT, and tonight will look to take down Grimes in dominant fashion.
Cameron Grimes Plans To Exploit The Injured Shoulder
Grimes would be focused on that shoulder starting this match, but was driven into the corner. Breakker would toss Grimes aside with ease, before Grimes shot for a single leg takedown. Grimes would be taken down into a headlock, before he’d be lifted up into a suplex.
Breakker would be unable to drop Grimes, who moved into a small package. Grimes went right into the armbar following the kick out, and Breakker would slip free before hitting the ropes to gain speed for a lariat.
Grimes would be tossed into the corner following this, but Breakker was showing some pain in the previously injured shoulder. A snap amp breaker would just add to this, as Grimes would set up for a Fujiwara Armbar. Breakker would be able to avoid the full extension and nailed a vertical suplex in response.
Bron Breakker Refuses To Say Die
Grimes would send Breakker down to the floor and hit the cannonball senton, and back in the ring would hit a PK right to the shoulder. Breakker would have the shoulder stomped down to the mat, before some mid kicks to the chest. Grimes was just firing Breakker up, before Breakker nailed a spinebuster.
Both men would trade blows on the mat, with Breakker unable to strike with the right arm – and still about to strike Grimes down. Some shoulder tackles and a powerslam would follow, before Grimes managed the Spanish Fly in the middle of the ring for a near fall.
Frankensteiner out of the corner could get Breakker a two count, before Grimes would look for the cross armbreaker. Breakker fought it off, before being shoved shoulder first into the corner and nailed with the Cave In – but only got two! A super Cave-In would be blocked with a desperate Spear, enough for Breakker to remain champion!
After the match, JD McDonough would make his NXT 2.0 debut – and drove Breakker through a table. Could The Irish Ace soon be NXT Champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
