On that day in October 2021, the Forest Park PD received a call from a friend of Jenkins. The friend requested a wellness check after he’d been called by Wilford who said he’d stabbed himself in the chest.
Police found Wilford and Huletta Jenkins in their home in awful shape. Huletta had been stabbed in the chest, her neck had been slit, and she had defensive wounds.
She would be declared dead at the scene but Jenkins—who had a self-inflicted wound to his neck—was rushed to the hospital where he received treatment. Investigators found a double-edged knife on the scene between Wilford and Huletta. The belief is that Wilford attempted to take his own life after killing his wife.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office said that Jenkins pleaded guilty on July 7, 2022. His charges include involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. When he was indicted in November 2021, the manslaughter charge was a murder charge and he was facing 15 years to life.
Wilford Jenkins—who worked as a prison guard and as a corrections officer in Ohio—will serve 20 years. He is not eligible for parole.
