Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles wanted Meghan Markle to reconcile with her father Thomas Markle.
Queen And Prince Charles Slammed For Pressuring Meghan To Reconcile With Her Father-‘Woe Unto Those Who Wish To Drive Her Into An Early Grave’
That is according to Royal author Tom Bower in his book entitled ‘Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsor’s.’ It is no secret that Meghan is not on the best of terms with her father.
He was absent from her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. This was on the basis that he had allegedly been speaking to the media in the run-up to Meghan’s wedding.
Meanwhile, her half-sister Samantha Markle was also outraged that Meghan had not visited her father in hospital following his recent stroke.
It is alleged that this poor relationship caused tensions, as Charles and the Queen could not understand why things could not get reconciled.
In his book, Tom wrote: “Meghan’s excuses irritated Charles and perhaps also the Queen. The monarch must have found it hard to believe that Meghan could not resolve her differences with Thomas Markle.”
But this was just the start. Tom expanded on how the Queen and Charles came together in order to come up with a solution. That solution was to encourage Meghan to fly out to the United States in order to see if she could hash things out with her father.
But once this was presented to her, it did not go down very well. It is claimed that Meghan ended up rejecting this proposal.
Tom’s following comments confirmed as much: “Meghan rejected the suggestion…the conference call ended with both the senior royals perplexed.” The social media response was very divisive.
While people recognised that reconciliation between the family was a good idea, others felt that Charles and the Queen had no right to meddle in other people’s business.
One person wrote: “She is in her right to reject that advise , and so what ? And woe unto those who wish to drive her into an early grave.”
