Jake Paul posts a joking video of him in a hospital bed claiming he ‘broke his back’ over carrying the promotion for his event.
Jake Paul was initially set to fight Tommy Fury, however, due to visa issues, he backed off from the bout. So, Jake found a replacement for him. The professional boxer Hasim Rahman Jr, who will face him on August 6th at the New York venue Madison Square Garden.
‘I Broke My Back’ – Jake Paul Whining About Carrying The Promotion For His Fight Alone
Due to the whole whirlwind surrounding the event, all the going back and forth, arranging and re-arranging the fight, opponents backing off, and not taking it seriously, Jake is left with promoting the fight all by himself.
Paul trolls his fans for a moment, posting the video where he lies in a bed stating that he broke his back. He wears a hospital gown, there are monitors around the bed, and he appears to be in a distress. The second statement makes it clear that it is all an act. He confesses to breaking his back by carrying the promotion for the event on it. He continues by saying that his opponents are ‘never selling sh*t’.
“So guys I’m in the hospital. I had an accident. I’m still going to be able to fight on August 6th so get your tickets at msg.com before they sell out.” – he says. “But I broke my back… carrying the promotion for this event. It’s broken. Nurse, nurse, more morphine.”
His girlfriend has a role in the video as a sexy nurse, dressed in a Halloween nurse outfit. As soon as he calls for her in the video she runs up to him and ‘helps’ him.
“I broke my back carrying the last five fights promotion. My opponents never sell s**t.” – he continues. “Ah, it hurts. These motherf*ckers never sell sh*t. They couldn’t sell a pen to a writer.”
His fans accept the video as hilarious. Moreover, they side with him on the claims he makes. He is all around his fights and tries to boost their popularity as much as possible, however, we rarely hear, or see something coming from his opponents. The people buying the pay-per-view buy it to see Jake fight. None of them buys it because of his opponent.
Even though, many of his followers want to see him lose the fight, again they are aware of the fight because of his promotion only. So in the comments section, the nature of the comments varies. From supportive to completely trashing.
“This is pure smoke to have an excuse if you lose lmaooo.” – one fan wrote. “Mans begging to sell some tickets this was trash, not your best work.” – another one adds.
“Are they getting paid to promote it? Does ticket sales, PPV buys, etc matter to your opponents? If they are getting PPV points I’m in shock that they are not trying to sell harder.” – a third one concludes.
In any case, we must give credit to Jake for trying. Finally, it is his fight and he is looking to extend his undefeated record to 6-0-0. What do you think? Will he be able to win over Hasim?
