Hey there everybody, it is Wednesday and you know what that means. That’s right, another episode of AEW Dynamite is coming to us tonight! A big time six-man tag team match is set for this week’s episode! The Inner Circle, led by Le Champion himself, goes up against Darby Allin & Private Party! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, and you can expect the same coverage as always, including previews of the show as they occur!
Y’all, it is fair to say that January has been a curious month for certain, with 2020 kicking off to a unique start for AEW. It was ushered in with the Homecoming event in Jacksonville on January 1st, leading into the Anniversary special in Memphis on week two, Bash at the Beach in Miami came after that, which led into the Jericho Cruise show in the middle of the ocean! After all that, here tonight we do finally seem to be settling into something resembling normalcy. I mean, we only have four pre-announced things to look at here tonight, which for Dynamite’s standards isn’t a whole lot. But, I can’t say I mind, the work week has been a long one for me already.
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz) vs. Darby Allin & Private Party (Marq Quen & Isaiah Kassidy)
Man on man this babyface team. I would love to see some kind of backstage skit here, some sort of backstory as to why they’re on the same team here this evening. I mean, they’re all flashy workers sure, and should gel nicely in the ring and all. But you got the depressive emo skateboarder kid in there with the party animals… what on Earth do they talk about?
Well anyway. They do have some common enemies, which always helps in pro wrestling. AEW World Champion Chris Jericho teams up with Proud-N-Powerful to take on this ragtag grouping. Darby once challenged for Jericho’s title in a street fight back in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Private Party have also had their run ins with Santana and Ortiz, the Inner Circle’s primary tag team. There’s a lot of combustible elements to be sure, and there are some unique ways you can go about this.
However, I don’t think we’re getting another Jericho/Darby match anytime soon which means he’s not about to pin him. And I kinda can’t see Jericho losing without getting pinned as weird as that sounds? It’s just, that would be the point to him being on the losing side of any match, setting up title bouts. Otherwise you’d wanna protect him. Anyway, the Inner Circle over.
