Jay Lethal is set to take down Samoa Joe once and for all at ROH Death Before Dishonor – but tonight, he has to face another icon of ROH. Christopher Daniels has stepped up to take on Lethal in a singles match, just two days before Death Before Dishonor. Daniels has not wrestled much for AEW lately, but is as good as ever when he needs to step into the ring.
Two Storied Legacies In Ring Of Honor
Both men have very similar legacies in ROH, being former ROH World, TV and Tag Team Champions. Daniels was someone who helped to put ROH on the map, being in the main event of their first show ever – facing Bryan Danielson & Low Ki. Meanwhile, Lethal would rise up to become the franchise player of ROH – with a combined reign of 707 days as World Champion, and 798 days as TV Champion.
Christopher Daniels Proves His Skills
Daniels would get a quick start, forcing Lethal into the corner. Lethal would try to fight free, and nailed the enziguri, before being dropped by Daniels who would hit the slingshot elbow drop. Lethal would be able to gain some control with the Ric Flair style chops in the corner, before a european uppercut.
Daniels would hit the leg lariat, but was sent to the floor and nailed with a dropkick through the ropes. Lethal hit the suicide dive, and kept Daniels out of the ring with a triangle dropkick, before nailing a second. Both dives would see Daniels hit his head off the barricade, and Sonjay Dutt would get some stomps in as Lethal distracted the referee,
Back in the ring, Lethal would hit a chop to the neck before the running knee drop to the nose. An uppercut would be countered into a backslide, before Lethal would be able to nail the backbreaker.Hip toss into the dropkick would land in the middle of the ring, before he’d try to set up the Muscle Buster – but Daniels would be able to wiggle free.
Jay Lethal Adds Insult To Injury
Daniels would gain some steam with some running elbow strikes, before the classic downward punches in the corner. Lethal would fight free, before taking the STO. Blue Thunder Bomb would land, and Daniels got the two count. Urange would be blocked by an arm drag and the Lethal Combination landed.
Hail to the King Elbow would be blocked, but Lethal almost got the Figure Four Leg Lock applied. Daniels fought free and almost hit Angels Wings, but Lethal blocked and nailed the Lethal Injection. Aside from some weak stomps from the retired Sonjay Dutt – this was as clean of a win as you get.
After the bell, Satnam Singh would nail the Gorilla Press Slam, before Lethal applied the Rear Naked Choke to a broken and beaten Daniels. Can Samoa Joe defeat Jay Lethal tomorrow night? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
