Danielle and Garrick Merrifield have been expecting Roberta Rodrigues, their sister wife, to join them in the United States. The latest episode shows that this visit may not happen anytime soon.
The TLC couple, Danielle and Garrick, met with Roberta on a polygamist dating site and immediately clicked. Although Danielle was not entirely open to polygamy, her husband felt it was his “calling” to have multiple wives, and after she prayed, she obliged.

Soon enough, the couple traveled to Mexico and had a commitment ceremony to show that Bert and the Merrifields were bound together. The couple requested a visa to the United States for Bert; Danielle and Garrick had to get divorced for the fiancée visa for Bert; the visa was approved, and plans have been underway for the sister’s wife to join the family.
They have begun to make plans and have even started building a bigger home to accommodate the coming wives and babies (including Bert’s when she arrives). In the latest episode, Danielle also added that they had installed a soundproofing system in the “sister wife room” so that when one wife rotated with Garrick, the other one would not hear what was going on in the room.
It has been weeks since Bert’s visa was approved, and there has been no visit to the United States yet. Although it was initially revealed that her mother was sick, which held her back for a bit, many are worried that there is more to Bert’s hesitance than is being let on. While the Merrifields are expecting their sister’s wife, Danielle asked that a third wife be brought in so she would have someone to relate to while Garrick and Bert are busy.
That didn’t work out as the best fit, they found—Lea couldn’t sacrifice her career. When the Merrifields spoke with Bert in the latest episode, she seemed to be trying to take her time with the process. One thing the Merrifield’s might not have is time, as their lawyer stated Bert has to arrive in America within a certain period. The question now is, why is Bert delaying? And would she ever come down to the States?
