Tetsuya Naito had another crushing low in his career, being unable to make the finals of the G1 Climax once again. However, a lightning fast victory over Zack Sabre Jr could have him in the main event of Royal Quest – with ZSJ being absolutely irate coming into tonight’s six man tag. Lance Archer & Taichi will back ZSK up, while Naito has SANADA & BUSHI.
Zack Sabre Jr. Needs Revenge On Tetsuya Naito, Lance Archer Promises To Return
Commentary would describe Naito as literally running out of time in his career, and having to put Wrestle Kingdom dreams on hold for another year is becoming less acceptable by the year. Naito & ZSJ would start mind games before they even reached the ring, while SANADA & Taichi shared words. Archer locked eyes with BUSHI, which is a mismatch for sure.
ZSJ was determined to start with Naito, but SANADA & Taichi would start the match. They[‘d pop their pecs and do some pushups, showing their bodies off to the fans. SANADA grabbed a roll up for a two count, before nailing a dropkick. Naito & SANADA worked together on Taichi, before ZSJ was sent off the apron – just pissing him off even more.
ZSJ & Naito would get into it on the floor, with Naito getting choked out as Archer took care of SANADA & BUSHI. L.I.J were all left laying on the floor, and Archer was asked to retrieve Naito and put him in the ring. Naito would strike and dodge with Archer, before being nailed with The Pounce. ZSJ would crack the neck of Naito, before taking a swing DDT.
BUSHI got the tag and sent ZSJ and Taichi to the floor, nailing the dive. Taichi looked for the powerbomb, but Naito made the save. BUSHI set up the rebound dropkick, before Archer nailed a chokeslam. Yokozuna elbow got the win, but if ZSJ would go after Naito on the floor even as the bell rang – showing this issue is far from done. Archer grabbed the microphone and thanked Japan for welcoming him back for this tour, and promised he’ll be back soon.
Wrestle Kingdom Returns To One Night Of Action, ELP & Shingo Trade Heavy Blows
Shingo Takagi & Hiromu Takahashi tonight have a good chance to teach BULLET CLUB a lesson – as they face the newly heavyweight El Phantasmo & KENTA. ELP is keen on going after the King of Pro Wrestling trophy held by Shingo Takagi – and a pinfall tonight following beating Shingo in the G1 Climax could secure this, while Hiromu pinning ELP or KENTA could get him into the heavyweight ranks soon.
Before this match, we’d get the announcement that Wrestle Kingdom 17 will be a one night event again, on January 4th. New Years Dash is back to January 5th – meaning the NJPW schedule is really going back to normal following the weirdness of the COVID-19 era.
Shingo would rush into ELP as this match began, before having his neck attacked once again. ELP would be run down with a shoulder tackle, before Hiromu got the tag – and had his back raked hard in the corner. KENTA would beat him on his head with his book, before setting up the super back rake from the bottom rope.
They’d use the book to slice between the fingers of Hiromu, before KENTA would hit some kicks. Shingo & ELP would again meet in the middle of the ring, with ELP dropped by the Yukon Lariat. Sliding Lariat would get the two count, as Hiromu took out KENTA on the floor. CRIII would be blocked, before Shingo & ELP traded close pinfalls on the mat. Low blow and roll up, and this one was over with ELP the winner.
