AEW Dynamite continues after that atomicos match, we have a match between Kip Sabian and Joey Janela tonight!
Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Kenny Omega for an interview but we’re cut off by PAC yelling from backstage and he’s right next to Riho… PAC says this was supposed to be a contract signing but Kenny ruined that. PAC says that clearly Michael Nakazawa means nothing to him so maybe he’ll see just how much he cares about lovely little Riho. He turns to her and Kenny takes up a mic to say that the match is on, he’s got it! PAC asks if that was so hard. Says that he hopes Kenny didn’t think he was about to lay his hands on a woman… he may be a bastard, but he’s not a beast. But “she” is… Nyla Rose sneaks up and attacks Riho! Powerbombs her onto the table and it does not break, vicious!
We now see a video from Darby Allin. He’s choked up, seemingly unable to speak after what the Inner Circle did to him last week, driving the skateboard into his throat. So instead of saying anything, he just takes a blowtorch to the cardboard cut-out of Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara.
Now out comes Superbad Kip Sabian, with Penelope Ford backing him up. Looks like he’s going ahead and facing off with his rival Joey Janela!
Kip Sabian vs. Joey Janela
Bell rings, Janela immediately gets some clubbering shots on Sabian! Grinds the boot into his neck on the second rope! Has to break on the five count, Sabian charges and returns the clubbering shots! Sabian with a float-over out of the corner, avoids a few shots, leg lariat takes Janela to the mat! Joey evades a corner charge, knife edge chops to the chest! Some mean ones! Charging forearm, pulls him out of the corner for a back suplex for 2! Joey waves at Ford, Kip gets a snapmare, mean kick to the back but Janela is stonefaced. Looks very serious as he goes up to his feet… snapmare and kick as a receipt! Janela lets himself go to a seated position, asking for another. Sabian charges for a kick but then just gets a headlock instead for jeers!
Joey Janela fights to his feet, back suplex, Kip flips to his feet but eats some mean sledge shots! Uppercut to the face, whips him to the ropes, Kip holds himself on the ropes, back body drop takes Joey to the apron, tries to dropkick him but Sabian evades, Joey gets tripped into the steps! Kip distracts the ref as Penelope walks over and thrusts the back of Janela’s head against the steps! Sabian throws him inside as we go to commercial, in the inset we see him hit a missile dropkick! Sabian akes him to the corner, charging big boot, takes him down for a cover for 2. Kicks him into the corner, distracts the ref again as Ford goes for the eyes.
Sabian with stomps to the chest and face! Pulls him to his feet, arm drag. Exchange of punches as Janela fights to his feet! Sabian with a Short-Arm Suplex into a Rope-Hung Vertical for the nearfall! “Let’s Go Joey” chant as Sabian goes to the apron, springboard, Janela ducks him, sends him to the apron, charges as Sabian hops to the floor, Suicide Dive! Penelope in his face for the distraction, Sabian with a running kick from the apron! Springboards off but Janela catches him into a brutal German Suplex to the floor!
Takes him into the ring, crowd chants for Joey again as he runs through him with a hard lariat for a nearfall! Janela gets him onto his shoulders, Sabian escapes, big boot. But he eats a thrust kick! Janela again wants him on his shoulders but Sabian escapes for a Backstabber, pop-up knee to the face, hits the ropes but runs right into a DVD!! Nearfall, very close! Crowd into the Bad Boy as he pulls Sabian to his feet. Exchange of forearms, Joey wins out. Discus, Sabian counters with a Snap DDT! Ford gives Sabian a kiss on the apron, Janela charges, Sabian evades and lets Janela knock Ford to the floor! Sabian rolls Janela up for the win!
Winner: Kip Sabian
Pretty good! Nice spots of course along with a very physical, intense battle, believably hating each other in that one.
We go backstage where Chris Jericho is furious, asking what kind of man jabs a spike into another man’s eye. Santana has an eyepatch just like Moxley. Santana cuts a promo saying Moxley has no idea what it’s like trying to take a walk into his shoes. Says next week, eye for an eye.
The Dark Order with a vignette that looked so much like a real commercial it actually fooled me!
