Right now, we’re closing in on the latest AEW PPV event. All Out is quickly taking shape, with just a match over the Undisputed AEW World Championship needed. However, one match that was previously announced might not be found on the card – as Eddie Kingston & Sammy Guevara got into a fight backstage.
Sammy Guevara & Eddie Kingston Had A Backstage Despute
This all stems from a promo between Guevara & Kingston, which had to be edited after Guevara would call Kingston a ‘fat piece of shit’. Considering Kingston was planned to win their match at All Out, it was felt that the match was buried due to this line. Guevara would be perceived as hard to work with following his angle with American Top Team – with Kingston being one of the few names willing to work with him.
After this promo however, we’d see a backstage fight – with Kingston yelling at Guevara, with Guevara simply smiling back at him. This led to Kingston shoving Guevara by the face, and Kingston would be suspended for two weeks following. Kingston accepted this, and Fightful Select would report that his response was “I was wrong. That is all.”
Kingston Has Been Active In The Ring Outside Of AEW
Since then, any word about a match between Guevara & Kingston has been halted. Guevara remains active in the ring, with a match taped for this Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage. Meanwhile, Kingston has been out of the ring for AEW since his Barbed Wire Deathmatch against Chris Jericho.
He’s been active in the ring, facing Jake Something on NJPW Strong, Stu Grayson at C4 Wrestling, and SLADE at Beyond Wrestling. It’s not unusual to see Kingston work outside of AEW, but the long absence from the ring and lack of follow up on the requested match for All Out had some fans worried that Kingston had left the company.
We will hopefully see Kingston make his return to the ring of AEW very soon, but it’s unlikely he finds a role on All Out besides being in the Casino Battle Royale. Did you notice the lack of Kingston on AEW TV? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
