David needed to lose weight before he could proceed with his bariatric surgery. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan told him he needed to lose some weight to avoid complications during the surgery. David was able to lose 155 pounds after several sessions with psychotherapist. Despite weighing 608 pounds presently, he still needs to lose more before he he can finally qualify for the surgery.

The TLC star is now living a healthy lifestyle as he focuses on his weight loss goals. David Nelson updates his fans with his scenic travel pictures on Instagram. He recently shared a picture from his time at the Galveston Beach. On Friday, August 26, he posted two pictures on Instagram to update his fans on his heath journey and captioned it, “still on this health road #my600poundlife #my600lblife #tlc #health #vanlife.” He is spotted sitting in his van in the first picture while the second photo showed him standing outside the van.
